Part 2 of my thoughts on how fantasy media conditions people to think that revolution is Sexy, while ignoring or downplaying the real life ramifications that violent conflict brings.

Tomorrow is Election Day and if we can’t trust people to make a pragmatic decision to do the bare minimum of their civil duty in a relatively lower stakes situation, how can we trust each other to pull off a revolution?

Go vote for a better future for us all.

Fantasy media in the West has conditioned some people to think that revolution is Sexy, while ignoring or downplaying the real life ramifications that violent conflict brings.

Being the chosen one forever immortalized for rising up against tyranny is Sexy; being the chosen one wrestling with the semantics of governing over rubble and making sure people are safe is Unsexy. Being the chosen one who has to figure out how everyone is going to eat after we all burn it down is Unsexy.

Given that we’re on the cusp of a major “battle” in the voting booth tomorrow on Election Day, with more battles to come, it’s important to pop the fantasy bubble so we can create a better future for us all.

Please excuse me during this time of grief. I might actually have to touch grass and be productive over the next few weeks until the AO3 outage is fixed 🥲

Setting aside the dramatics, thank you to everyone working to get the site back up and running!

Sometimes we get so caught up worrying about the future, we forget to appreciate the present.

Relax your shoulders, take a breath, actually feel the life entering your lungs, and exhale. Everything is going to work out just as it’s meant to 💚

Sharing more of my thoughts on the Wicker film: two relationships, that of the Baker and the Bottlewasher and their wives, had vastly different outcomes because one listened to his wife’s desires, while the other didn’t.

Ultimately it emphasized the importance of actually observing and listening to what your wife wants, instead of doing RANDOM sh*t you THINK your wife wants.

What’s your take on these two relationships from the film?

From Danielle’s “Just Breathe” moment in Ever After to Laney walking down the stairs in She’s All That — I adore that moment when the female main character undergoes a transformation and everyone is utterly shocked and enraptured.

Unfortunately, one of my older side characters has to intervene so unfortunate misunderstandings don’t occur in my upcoming novel The Lady Thief 😊

Is there a Cinderella moment in a book or film that never fails to move you?

I saw Wicker on opening night — yes the film is horny and hilarious, but the messaging was incredibly compelling. Jealousy and envy will really ruin your life if you don’t internally address why you’re so miserable in your own marriage/relationship ☝🏽

You’ve probably seen quite a few people down your feed talking about how rough job expectations have become in the name of efficiency, productivity and increasing shareholder value up and to the right.

As someone who has worked since I was 15, my body and brain has been battered for years and I absolutely needed to take time off to recover. Immediately, my body and brain showed me how tired they actually were once they didn’t have anything to do for once.

Now as I prepare to go back to work tomorrow, I’m re-thinking what I want my career and life to feel like moving forward ⏩

Everyone’s situation is different but don’t be afraid to take the break you know you need. Take the FMLA — your health comes first 💚
