It’s been two months since I lost my dear great-grandmother, Laverne, and I miss her everyday. I’m so grateful that I got the chance to be a part of her life and experience who she was. My Granny was such a loving person to everyone and she expected nothing in return for her kindness. She adored our family and was a lovely mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and much more. I have always been inspired by her accomplishments and life adventures she had with my Great-Grandfather. When I saw her for the last time I told her that she inspired me everyday to be a kind and genuine person, as she has been her whole life. My Granny is the of a role model matriarch of my family and I’m so blessed to have grown up with her in my life to see it. I love you always, Granny, and I miss you dearly. 💙 - - - Song: Time to Rest Your Weary Head by Jacob Collier by @jahzsings

I recorded this 1 day before graduation - my last practice room session at Texas Southern. I met so many amazing people and had great friends and mentors throughout my time there and I couldn’t be more grateful for that experience. I always considered the Rollins-Stewart music school to be my home at TSU, and it is the student and professors there who made my experience so memorable. It’s a bittersweet moment of leaving, but I’m so thankful to have made this achievement, and I’m excited for what comes next! #graduation #explore #explorepage #singing #cover #texassouthernuniversity @texassouthern @leith_ross by @jahzsings

About to get more vulnerable than usual but wow what a summer I’ve had. It’s been a rollercoaster of experiences truly. I got to see my close friends graduate, started a band with extremely talented musicians and friends followed by a debut show, met many new and awesome people, got to see my cousin get married, and so many other amazing moments. At the same time, I’ve been grieving the loss of my dear Granny since her passing in June, and it’s been a challenge feeling like I’m moving on with life though she’s not here. If I had the chance to talk with her today though, she would be proud to see all the things I’ve accomplished and the time I’ve been spending with my loved ones. All that to say, don’t forget spend time with the people in your life and do things that make you feel fulfilled. Life is short. Okay that’s all. Bye! - - - #explore #explorepage #photodump by @jahzsings
