The Cross Road 🎥🛣️

History doesn’t repeat, it rhymes. In the 50s, the legends of Sophiatown used American Mafia style as a weapon of identity. Fast forward to us the DStv generation raised on a diet of Corleone classics and local masterpieces like Jerusalema.
This shoot was about capturing that mental bridge. We took the sharp, “Don” silhouette and draped it in the most iconic symbol of the South African road: the checkered taxi towel.
I shot this in monochrome to give it that timeless, archival feel. I wanted the viewer to feel the texture of the shopfront and the weight of the fabric without the noise of the modern world. It’s a tribute to how we’ve taken global influences and stitched them into our own Zulu heritage. It’s not just a “look” it’s a dialogue between the movies we watched and the streets we walked.
