Lovely day in London with Jessie today. We began in Battersea where I dropped off some pots at The Milly Green Gallery at 113b Northcote Road. She sold all my pieces I delivered before. I think the gallery is beautiful and I’m so pleased that she has chosen my work.
Then on to the Barbican to see The Robert Ryman Exhibition. Really enjoyed this. Such a pleasure to see these pieces. It brought me back to seeing my Dad who was an architect before computers and watching the slow deliberate lines and placement of materials and paper. In Rymans work we could see the slow meditative application of surfaces and gaps. The room full of white paintings celebrating brush marks was calming. He describes his work as not abstract but realistic pieces which was what they were. AI can never do this, just like ceramic studio pottery, it was refreshing and tangible.

This week my number of followers went up to over 1000. Thankyou so much to everyone for encouraging and inspiring me since I began this practice in 2021 after some years teaching pottery and raising a family. It’s my second career as ceramic artist working full time. However I was always drawing, making pots and occasionally exhibiting them, designing Salisbury 10mile tee shirts, Stonehenge Stomp badges and working hard teaching children from Year Three to A level to make amazing things in clay. Now it’s my turn again and I just love making pots in my lovely home studio!
This year I have been taking part in York Ceramics Fair, The Towner Ceramics Fair, Celebrating Ceramics and PotFest. Along with lots of other events and an Open Studio. It feels like I’m doing quite well and sales are growing. I’ve met some wonderful fellow potters which has been a massive treat and love following them on instagram!
Ultimately this whole thing is about making pots, that’s is what I’ve been up to and Instagram has helped me to reach great enthusiasts along the way!

More brooches to supply to @blackswanarts shop, @sousouwestgallery @fisherton.mill @unity_art_studios and I’m taking some to @handmadewimborne this Saturday. I love making these brooches, they are all tiny little pictures. Growing up I was obsessed with jewellery making, mostly out of reconstructed jumble sale beeds and glorious trips to the Beed Shop in Covent Garden! Does it still excist? I sold a fair few sets of earrings too and I’ve always fiddled around making jewellery so it’s great to combine this with making pots. Also it uses up bits of materials and fills spaces in the kiln. They seem to take more time than you would think but I get a little bit obsessed. I love showing them with my pots at markets because I like watching peoples rifle through them struggling to make decisions. They are a bit of bread and butter for my small business and I’m so grateful for the income I receive from the galleries each month!

Just dropped off some lovely new brooches @fisherton.mill. Every batch of brooches and each brooch is different, I hope people like them. Nice to hear of some recent pots sales too. It’s especially good to drop off at Fisherton Mill because it involves a nice 3 mile loop from my house via @salisburycathedral.

I’m very pleased to be taking part in the Print and Sculpture exhibition at Sou’-Sou’-West Gallery; the exhibition has been beautifully put together - there is a really good mix of wall hung and 3D work, with variation in techniques and materials used.
The gallery is @symondsburyestate which has a great cafe and some beautiful walks. A good day out!
