It’s out now! The winter issue of Where Women Create, featuring my studio! Gah! It’s so exciting. Many thanks to my excellent photographer @daniel.recinos and the folks at @wherewomencreate for making my studio look fabulous ❤️❤️❤️ Grab a copy now! You’ll get a peek at a few other studios here at Metro Art Studios too - @rickshaefer @kristin.merrill @morrisonmeighan and @lhoriginalart

It was a nearly 4 year journey to create this special place @metroartstudios and I know how lucky I am that the stars and planets aligned for it to all come together, including two very special, visionary people without whom it would not have happened #artiststudio #wherewomencreate #metroartstudios #arteveryday #artistsofinstagram #dominomag #apartmentherapy #artnewengland #housebeautiful #elledecor by @janedavila

Dwell 38/60. Home. So important, so fragile. So dependent are where you were lucky or unlucky enough to have been born. by @janedavila

Most of the Dwell pieces to date. They’re fun as a group but they’re also fun one at a time. I’ll need to photograph them with proper lighting once they’re all done. Do you have a favorite? by @janedavila

Dwell 37/60. Home for whom? What are we doing? What are we allowing to happen? Also, f*ck ICE #joansebastianduranguerrero #lorenzosalgadoaraujo by @janedavila

Dwell 36/60. Back from vacation, back to work, back to the world. What’s your favorite escape this summer, for those brief periods when you need to refuel, relax, and find the energy to keep up the fight? by @janedavila

I’m going to be sad when this series of small block prints is over! by @janedavila

Dwell 35/60. There’s nothing like a happy plaid fabric! by @janedavila

Dwell 34/60. Isn’t there something so inherently whimsical about polka dots? Especially irregular polka dots. And whimsy feels much needed these days. What other patterns feel whimsical to you? by @janedavila

Dwell 33/60. Sunny days, clear blue skies, windows open, shoes off. What’s your most productive season? Summer is usually the most creative, productive season for me, hope it holds true this year! by @janedavila

A few more in the Vestige series of two color block prints. The imperfections of hand printing are my favorite parts. by @janedavila

Dwell 32/60. As I cross the halfway point in this series, I’ve started to think about exhibiting the work, figuring out pricing, maybe creating a small catalog of all 60 once they’re done. Pricing is definitely something I struggle with. How do you price your work? Do you have a formula? Do you price work in different mediums differently? Do tell! by @janedavila

Do you ever circle back to a series from years ago? In 2019 I started a series called Vestige, of 4” block prints with a little hand stitching and made about 3 dozen. I came across the original prints in a drawer in my studio and decided to make more. I also decided to solve the issue of how to display them. The 6” square paper is mounted on 8” square cradle boards, which are first covered with linen. The prints are only adhered to the linen in the center so the paper edges are free and can show the nature of the paper and cast shadows from the slight curls and irregularities. So simple, two color prints, a few stitches, really enjoying the process and dreaming up the next one. Can’t wait to get some hung up in the studio by @janedavila
