We had to try the Freedom Menu at 1947 🇮🇳

Not gonna lie, I’m definitely not the most educated when it comes to Indian food. I feel this is what made this experience so good.

It was a little journey of flavours through India.
Experiencing different spices, and combinations I probably wouldn’t have known to order myself.

I have definitely left with a few new favourites and still craving that Palak patta Chaat.

Boodle fight • How we eat 2026 🇵🇭🇳🇿

The younger Janna would’ve loved this.

Growing up in Aotearoa, there wasn’t much Filipino representation around me, let alone Filipino restaurants. As a kid growing up in South Auckland I didnt see the food I grew up eating proudly served and celebrated.

Now, more and more Filipino-Kiwis are opening restaurants, cafés and food businesses, sharing the flavours of our homes with Aotearoa.
There is something incredibly special about watching food that once simply existed around our family table become part of Aotearoa's food story.

It makes me proud.

Proud that the food I grew up with is being shared with people from all walks of life.

Proud that our flavours, traditions and stories are being given a place at the table.

Most of all its knowing that my children will get grow up seeing their Filipino heritage represented in a way I didn’t always get to.

Filipino's deserve to have our...
Food celebrated • Culture recognised • Heritage shared

This is what makes boodle fights special...
no individual plates, no fuss.
Just food laid out in abundance, hands reaching in, camraderie, stories being told, and everyone sharing in one table

This is how we eat. This is how we share. This is us Pilipinas🇵🇭

LUMPIA Located

We set out on a mission to find the best lumpia in Auckland… but we quickly realised there isn't just one winner. Every spot brought something different to the table, and each one was great in its own way. This became a Lumpia tour ✨

Noon at Nanam

Filipino cuisine in boujee form executed brilliantly yet the pinoy essence remained. Jess knows how to craft ingredients and plate it up incredibly. From start to finish, we kept thinking about the flavour journeys we went through. Not only does she executed pinoy dishes greatly, she makes filipino food accessible for those who have never seen or tasted this cuisine before.

The food was top-notch, it followed through with the service by the fab team.
This restaurant and team truly deserves the accolades it has received and I expect they continue this momentum onwards.
