Some records ask you to keep going and Marathon, the aptly titled new album by Maria BC and a CoreChaos favorite of recent times, is one of them. On Wednesday, 18th November, the Oakland-based musician visits Favoritbar with a voice that stays quiet and still carries an abundance of stories: resistance, loss, environmental collapse and the simple will to carry on. Classically trained as a mezzo-soprano, Maria BC moves between folk, shoegaze and ambient, between tender fingerpicking and walls of distortion, yet always close to a whisper. It’s a dynamic of quiet grandeur, arguably shaped by early one-room recordings crafted with care not to disturb roommates or neighbors. The title track begins with a childhood memory of a glowing gas-station sign and becomes a song about longing and complicity. Their previous album, Spike Field, is named after a proposed warning sign for nuclear waste: stone thorns, built to be understood for 10,000 years. Before and after the show CoreChaos & friends play records, with a standing invitation to stare at the ceiling. With its orange plastic floor, Favoritbar is about as close as Munich gets to an avant-garde late-night petrol station, and we’re happy to refuel all your glooming needs. Among our guests behind the decks: a very special friend and supporter of ours, L One. The local hip-hop whiz has tuned countless CoreChaos shows to hi-fi from the front-of-house desk, and now he shares his perspective on our musical microcosm on hard wax. 18.11. | Favoritbar, München | Doors & Start: 20:00 | Supporter Tickets available now! | 0-16€ at the door artwork by @feelinxfree - thank you so much! #mariabc #corechaosconcerts #favoribar #experimentalmusic #ambientfolk by @janyirro
@crooksuk x @ritesofspringfest 2027 - Day II - Saturday, May 1st Some bands leave a mark that never really fades - for us, Crooks are one of them. Coming out of the UK’s DIY hardcore scene, Crooks built a devoted following with their raw, heart-on-sleeve songwriting and emotionally charged blend of punk, hardcore, and post-hardcore. Their acclaimed debut ‚Are We All The Same Distance Apart’ brought their music to an even wider audience. Now, we know what the copypasta says - but in the end, isn’t real emo less about fitting a definition and more about what the music makes you feel? After stepping away from the stage to let the music speak for itself, Crooks are set to play their first shows in 11 years - and we couldn’t be more honoured and excited to welcome them to Rites Of Spring Fest. 30.04.-01.05.2027 | Kafe Kult | weekend & day tickets available now! | Sadness + Crooks UK + more bands tba soon! artwork @unvernunftxartworks #ritesofspringfest #crooksuk #realemo #emo #screamo by @janyirro
“I thought, ‘I’m home, […] Because in my life I wasn’t partaking in what everyone else was partaking in I felt different […] Then I found myself in a room full of people who, for varying reasons, where the same. […] Whatever it was they were in that room and they were full of ideas and that’s what I was looking for – ideas, people who were interested in kicking around some thoughts instead of letting things get blurry.” Who else but Ian MacKaye would sum up our feelings about our second Rites of Spring? It wasn’t just our expectations that were already high after 2025; which honestly felt three years ago, given everything that went into this one. And still: when the bands, helpers, old friends and new friends all landed in Kafe Kult on Friday and Saturday, it was all worth it. There’s nothing sweeter than music and a caring community at what felt like 78% humidity and 37°C. Thanks again to everyone who was a part of Rites of Spring 2026, onstage & offstage. Hello! We celebrate the end of CoreChaos’ 5th year – which means 4 full years of shows, gigs & events – and it has EASILY been our busiest year so far. 29 shows, 19,499 gallons of sweat, and a wealth of new friends and memorable experiences. Many, many, many “regular” shows and a handful of very special events we’ve been dreaming of putting on for quite a while now, like the Rites of Spring Fest and its (fake-emo) sister, The Summer Ends. More news on the fest very soon! We wanna take a second to thank all the artists who helped us escape the world for a few hours (and more), and all of their teams for making the shows possible. Every single one of you shaped this year in ways we won’t forget. But very special thanks go out to our CoreChaos family members for making all these shows possible: it’s never just the four CoreChaos core members, but a circle of very special friends whose support, trust and patience make the whole thing happen. @steamyandor @sufganiia @marc.e.moon @luke_gnd @mariellemilia @woodrowxboy @overratednormality @v229221 @vladdxc @thecoolestcatintown @deroansa @yung2nelis @julius_philipp_peter @zweigstelle_nordbooking , Paul & Dani - nothing would be possible without you 🤍 – also: very special thanks to the Münchner Kulturreferat – @patriciam0922, Tanja, Veronika & Zoi – whose funding (and flexibility) gave us the ability and security to take a few bigger risks, while helping keep the shows accessible and artists paid. That’s one small but beautiful example of where a wee part of the taxes we all pay can go. We’re slipping back into our light hibernation now, cooking up 19,499 new ideas, shows and much more we will start announcing soon! Take care 🤍 Walter, Marietta, Marcel & Jany most of the photos by @mariellemilia & @steamyandor #corechaosconcerts #diyordie #munich by @janyirro
@initiativemusik #applausaward #applaus2025 Fotos: Jaime Peralta by @janyirro
summer was sweet but also super stressful so here is an ode to the quiet moments i miss swimming in every kind of water that‘s getting in my way by @janyirro
Hello y’all! We’re back with @ritesofspringfest at @kafekult this weekend (08.–09.05.) and honestly, we’re really excited, a little nervous, and can’t wait. Rites Of Spring Fest is probably the most beautiful thing we’ve put together so far, and it would really mean the world to have you there again. Booking this year’s edition took me months and almost drove me nuts, so I’m even happier to have all of these incredibly talented bands on stage. There is also gonna be a ROS Tape Sampler, Real/Fake Emo Socks & a super sweet shirt you can buy at the fest 👀 None of this would be possible without my @corechaosconcerts family — Walter, Marietta, Marcel & Paul. I’m beyond thankful to have you on board and also really proud of us. There are still presale Standard & Supporter Tickets left, Social Tickets are available at the door. See you Friday & Saturday, take care 🤍 🌸🌸🌸 08.-09.05.26 | Kafe Kult | weekend & day tickets available now!
