Watch me work ✨

I’ve been getting a lot of comments recently since showcasing my old work vs my new work, artists just asking what tips etc I’d give for progression and what was the ‘clicking point’ for me.

Let’s just be real, I’ve never had an exact clicking point 😂 the more I tattoo, the more comfortable I feel with my machine and my technique.

Difficult skin types sometimes throw me off, like they do with everyone, but I can adapt confidently on the spot. It’s only through our own mistakes that we learn this skill 🙌🏻

The main things I find helpful are:

- STRETCH (it needs to be tight AF - most of my clients feel the pressure from my stretch more than the prick of the needle 😝)
- SPEED (slower machine speed = slower nervous system. The first pass I am super slow, but the reinforcing 2nd pass I’m much faster)
- SATURATION (light on entry, consistent contact in the middle of the stroke, light on exit)
- NUMBING (we need that blanch, to decrease reactivity and to see the strokes pop)
- PREDRAW (a neat, clean predraw is everything)
- NEEDLE ANGLE (my needle is tilted in the direction of the stroke for more implantation)
- REINFORCING (on the 2nd pass, reinforcing only the mid part of the stroke, not the tapers)
- TIME (I take my time. You can’t rush an artist darling)

There’s more tips, which I cover in my hyperrealism/hairstroke brow masterclasses 🫶🏻 but these are some verrry important factors for me 💚

Come watch me work 👀🤎

Pretty little hairstrokes for the fabulous @sasha_spmu

Trying out my new Racer Pro machine and Ocean Heart needles from @mastpmuofficial and so far I’m really enjoying working with both!

The machine: I love that I can adjust the hit depending on how I want to work, and it feels really well balanced in my hand without being top heavy. It’s also a really affordable harder hitting machine compared to other ones on the market. I’ve yet to use it on a softer setting though.

The needles: Super precise, which is exactly what I want for my hairstroke work! I also love the little ledge designed for resting your finger on too. Such a small detail, but it makes a difference to how comfortable they feel to work with seeing as I always have my fingers on my cartridge.

I did use the cartridges on a Fitz 4 oily skin with my student last week however, and the needles were a little too sharp for that skin type, so we switched to a Mast Pro needle instead which was softer.

I’m yet to put either of them to the test on more mature skin, so I’ll reserve my full judgement until I’ve worked on a wider variety of skin types and seen some healed results come back.

But first impressions? Very happy so far, especially with the machine! 🤌🏼✨

Funny, we are all in the same boat 😂😂😂 let’s be honest.

We are told:

1. Don’t use too much carbon black.

2. Avoid titanium dioxide.

3. Iron oxides can be more challenging to remove.

4. Be careful with modifiers because they can complicate future removal.

But at the same time, we want a pigment that lasts, maintains a beautiful warm tone, fades predictably AND can be easily removed if necessary?

The perfect brow pigment doesn’t exist yet, and I can’t be the only one who’s sick of waiting? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Every pigment formulation comes with its own advantages and limitations. As artists, it’s about understanding those properties and carefully selecting what’s most appropriate for the individual client, their skin and the result we’re trying to achieve.

There isn’t a one size fits all solution, and there probably never will be.

And no, this isn’t an invitation for another lengthy pigment debate in the comments because I think we’re all absolutely sick of hearing it 😂 respectfully of course, because education IS still very important.

Comment funny, light-hearted and relatable things instead.

Can someone also invent this magical, flawless pigment that ticks every single box plz? Thank you.

Yours sincerely, every single PMU artist xoxo by @jasmineevans.pmu

Fresh nano brows for @sasha_spmu ✨❤️

Proof that you don’t have to go huuuuge and fluffy to make an impact, we just enhanced what was already there. The goal is to always notice the brows, not the tattoo 😍

Fun fact! This is a bit of a full circle moment for me. Sasha is a fellow PMU artist who actually played a part in inspiring me to get into permanent makeup myself all those years ago!

So to have her on my bed, trusting me with her own brows, is a pretty special feeling 🫶🏻 Thank you for the trust 🙌🏻 (she has healed lips by me also 🤭)

Healed hairstrokes after just ONE session 💚

Using mineral-based hybrids by @face.pm.world 🫶🏻

Soft, subtle and almost undetectable amongst the natural brow hairs. Exactly how I like them!

When a client already has existing brow hair, my aim isn’t always to completely redesign their brows, but to compliment what’s naturally there. By carefully placing hairstrokes amongst the existing hairs, we can create the illusion of a naturally fuller, fluffier brow without making it obvious that any permanent makeup is there at all.

As I’ve stated before, I now always prefer to build gradually rather than do too much in the first session. These brows are beautifully soft, with plenty of room to add further definition, density and depth at the retouch 🙌🏻

FIRST PASS MAGIC 🪄✨

I spend more time on my first pass now, more than ever. I take my time getting those strokes nice and crisp before the skin response has chance to properly kick in.

It’s okay to slow it down 🫶🏻
