My home-cooked birthday dinner! No birthday is complete without breaking out my own cooking chops and getting down to business doing what I love. Three different cuts of steak seasoned three different ways, roasted sweet potatoes, and gailan Steak 1: Prime Picanha with a dry rub made using Dasida beef seasoning, Cajun spice blend, Lawry's season salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika Steak 2: Hanger steak marinated with Walkerswood Jamaican Jerk paste and olive oil Steak 3: Flat-iron steak marinated with Yucatan flavor profile mix of Del Mayab La Perla Achiote seasoning, lemon juice and olive oil Roasted Potatoes: Okinawan Sweet Potatoes and Korean Sweet Potatoes rubbed with coconut oil, palm sugar, finely chopped ginger, cinnamon, and Aleppo pepper flakes Gailan: Simply pan sautéed with oyster sauce, finely sliced garlic, and red Thai chili Everything came out super good! The steaks were all tender and flavorful. The hanger steak was probably my fave of the meats, mainly because it was the perfect meeting of doneness and flavor. The flat-iron steak could have used a bit more punch, but it was still good. The picanha was slightly overcooked, but it was still really tender and flavorful. The greens came out really good too! Good level of garlic, heat, and bitter But the star of the night was the roasted sweet potatoes! Perfectly cooked on the inside, slightly crispy on the outside, and the flavor was a banger! #birthdayboy #birthdaydinner #meatfeast #roastedpotatoes #krayvekusina by @jayteezer
No Asian birthday is complete without some noodles! Lan Noodle has a location in West Hollywood that we actually went to, but IG doesn't know about it yet, apparently lol Had the Braised Beef Wide Noodle Soup and the Dry Triangle Noodle with Lamb, plus pan-fried pork dumplings. Everything was really really good! The noodles had amazing texture and chew! The flavor of the soup was really good and the flavor of the lamb was great too! Even the dumplings were a knockout! Would highly recommend this place. #birthdayboy #birthdaynoodles #handpullednoodles #taiwanesefood by @jayteezer
Might not be a birthday cake, it's better! Matcha Strawberry Bingsu from Heybings in Irvine. The matcha snow was so incredibly light and refreshing. Not too heavy on the matcha flavor either, just perfect! The strawberries and strawberry syrup were great! Such a clean refreshing birthday dessert 🤤 #bingsu #matchastrawberry #birthdayboy #birthdaynotcake #refreshing by @jayteezer
Excellent birthday dinner at Chaak kitchen in Tustin Ever since I went to Cozumel, Mexico as a kid, I've wanted to have good Yucatan food again, but haven't found anything really. Today, I had an AMAZING dinner celebrating Yucatan flavors at Chaak. We had three items: 1. Castacan, which is confit pork belly tacos. These didn't get pictured because they looked so good and I was so hungry lolol. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten, legitimately. So flavorful and perfectly tender. 2. Pulpo al Guajillo, which is the octopus dish you see here. This was something my mom wanted to try! The octopus was tender, but still had a little bite, which is great! I was a little worried I would be allergic, so only had one bite of the octopus, but the dish was good. 3. Makkum, which is the whole Branzino flavored with the achiote spice rub and grilled, served with fresh tortillas and condiments. The fish was perfect! Great flavor, tender and moist. Such a great dish! One of my fave meals for sure! I'll definitely be back! #chaak #yucatanfood #theothermexico #birthdayboy #birthdaydinner by @jayteezer

What do you do with uncooked brisket flat? Well... make ADOBO!! You can make anything into adobo! This was partially inspired from #mamaleahscoconutbeef at @theparksfinest I haven't been there in a long time, but that dish has always stuck with me. I make Adobo often, and will sometimes add achueté, but I've never added coconut milk. This time, I had that brisket and couldn't think of a better way to cook it in order to maintain moisture and get it tender. Adobong baka sa gata to the rescue!! So good! #krayvekusina #adobobrisket #gata #coconutmilk #filipinofood #masarap by @jayteezer
