*USE HEADOHONES*

Started with chatter.
Ended with attention.

That’s how a groove should hit LIVE!!

We don’t rush it — we build it. From pocket to peak.

Kolkata, we’ve got live shows, jazz gigs, and some funk/soul energy coming your way.
Watch this space.

How a Bass Solo Wins an Argument!!

Step 1: Bass solo begins.
Crowd reaction: “Ah yes… time to discuss life decisions, order drinks, maybe call an ex.”

Step 2: I continue anyway. Confidence slightly illegal. Notes getting bolder.
Audience still talking. I get it. This is a safe space.

Step 3: Something shifts.
A phrase lands. A groove locks. One head turns. Then another.

Step 4: The conversation starts losing.
People aren’t sure why they’ve stopped talking… but they have.

Step 5: Peak.
Now suddenly it’s very quiet. Suspiciously quiet.
Bass solo = no longer background noise, apparently.

Step 6: Resolution.
Applause from the same people who were just discussing butter chicken vs biryani!!

Moral of the story:
No one listens to a bass solo… until they do.

And honestly, that’s what makes it fun!! 🤓

that smile at the end is my way of telling @aservaia, “relax brother, I’ve got this.”

packed night at @skinnymosjazzclub playing with my brothers @shonai.music @duttapremjit @aservaia as @jazz_tro_nots - thank you for the energy!

this is a very soft soul track by The Isley Brothers, a band I deeply admire. This night however convinced me to switch on the distortion. (Ugh these guitar players).

Thank you @margubaliofficial @nishit.arora @skinnymosjazzclub

Why is Gordan Sumner called Sting?

Sumner's career started way before the onset of The Police! In the 1970s, Sumner was playing Jazz with The Phoenix Jazzmen - a North UK Jazz Ensemble

Sumner walked into rehearsal one day wearing a black and yellow sweater when trombonist and band leader Gordon Solomon called him Sting. The rest, as we all know, is history. One of the finest to ever do it. With his roots in Jazz!

After leaving the Police and pursuing a solo career, Sting's first solo album, The Dream Of The Blue Turtles (1985) featured America's finest young Jazz cats at the time including Omar Hakim (Drums), Kenny Kirkland (Piano, Keys) and the one and only Branford Marsalis (Soprano/Tenor Saxophone) - most of you may know piece together the incredible playing on Englishman in New York!

This is from the tribute to Sting show at our safe haven @skinnymosjazzclub - the band playing "Moon Over Bourbon Street"

It is always an honor and privilege to have the finest @pradyumnamanot play with us.

Enjoy listening to his incredible solo!

Last Saturday, Skinny Mo’s swayed to the sound of Sting 🎸

The Jazztronauts returned to the Skinny Mo’s stage, only that this time, they dived into the intricate world of Sting’s songwriting, where rhythm, poetry, and groove meet in effortless conversation.

With Paddy joining in on keys, the night unfolded through reimagined versions of timeless tunes, each carrying its own shade of soul and nostalgia.

It was a night for musicians, dreamers, and anyone who believes a good melody never grows old! Thank you for joining in and making it so special.
