I can’t believe I said this to a room full of Germans, while also fulfilling one of my life bucket list goals.

Three things I never thought I’d do:
1. Sing on stage.
2. Speak German on stage.
3. Sing on stage, in German, to a room full of Germans.

Luckily, they were kind. Also, the stereotype that Germans don’t laugh? Not true.

I flew to Karlsruhe, Germany to deliver my first TEDx Talk. It explores how we got to this difficult point in history through a culture of hierarchy and patriarchy. Our route out of it so we can connect back to our humanity and empathy for each other is through PLAY.

It’s probably the most nervous I’ve been for a talk, as well as the most proud I’ve felt about a talk…and I speak for a living.

Beyond Hierarchy: How Play Can Heal The Division Between Us

Here’s the link to the TEDx Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abnzm6czeP4

You can also access it from the link in my bio.

If this message resonates with you, I’d LOVE your help in sharing it. Here’s how you can help:

- Watch the video, like and comment on YouTube
- Share this post on your social media
- Share the video with specific people who would resonate or disagree with this message. We need all the perspectives.

These are surreal times. In order for us to survive this timeline, we must learn to dismantle the hierarchy between us, which can be done through PLAY.

So, let’s see if it is possible.

This is super exciting to share today on my mom and my birthday. I got the opportunity to talk about the importance of play on the award-winning @npr podcast and radio show Life Kit Podcast hosted by Marielle Segarra: https://www.npr.org/2023/07/26/1190234742/bring-more-play-into-your-life

I was lucky enough to be on the same episode as the Dr. of Play, Dr. Stuart Brown, and the phenomenally talented YouTube Star @whitneybae.

In this podcast episode, we talked about play personalities, how to address your inner critic through play, and why play is so important, especially now.

If you'd like to do something for my birthday, please listen to the episode and share it. That'd be a fantastic birthday present that may inspire others to play more. Thanks so much for your help! I wish you a play-infused, epiphany-filled, fun-fabulous rest of your year!

#stitch with @ayandastood If you want to help dismantle the patriarchy, cultivate community love rather than only prioritizing romantic love. If you are living in community, you dont need as much stuff, such as a lawnmower, because you can always borrow from someone else. In community love, you can trust that people within the communty to watch out for your kids, so you dont have to spent so much in childcare. With community love, you won’t as easily have to go fo thr bank for a loan because your community would be willing to help you out without collecting interest. When you embrace a WE over ME perspective, you are reminded that you are not alone and you start to watch out for one another.

This year has been rough. Whether it’s experiencing climate change, watching our tax dollars fund unjust wars killing innocent lives, feeling like it’s unaffordable to live, seeing our neighbors, friends, and even family kidnapped without due process, while watching the elite commiting crimes and corruption in broad daylight and getting away with it.

But days like election day reignite my faith in humanity. Seeing how many people willing to stand for hours just to vote, seeing future generations who have been labeled as apathetic marching droves to the polls, this gives me hope in democracy. Seeing leaders like Mai Vang @maiforus, @abdulelsayed, Angie Nixon @angieforfl , and @Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani proving that government can work for the people gives me hope that just maybe we can still salvage American Democracy.

My faith in humanity is restored whenever I meet people in real life and able to turn off the news and social media propaganda that is designed to divide us.

I’m in Japan for Game 7 of the WNBA Finals. Because I’m not in the Bay Area for this historical occasion, I figure why not bring some of the Bay Area here by cheering on the Golden State Valkyries from Kyoto, Japan. Let’s go Valks!

Game 6 of the WNBA Championship is scheduled for 12:30 PM on a Thursday to accommodate a regular season Atlanta Hawks game. What!? The same Atlanta Hawks that have never sniffed an NBA Championship.

Why is the NBA prioritizing male mediocrity over women’s excellence?

This could be the most viewed WNBA Finals game of all time between the Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream and they instead move it to a time when most fans will be at work or school.

Why are you punishing fans? Is it because you are jealous that the WNBA has increased its popularity in a shorter period of time than the NBA.

It’d be so easy to move this irrelevant regular season Hawks game. They’ve moved games for far less in the past.

By choosing to move this historical WNBA game to 12:30 PM, the NBA and media partners are communicating how much they hate women’s sports. Prove otherwise with your actions, NBA. Do better.

I saw these two clips that at first don’t seem to have any connection. One clip shows a kid using a bullet proof backpack to protect themselves from potential school shooters.

The next clip is a woman who needs to protect herself from being roofied.

The few common denominators are:
1. They put the responsibility on the victim to protect themselves and not on the perpetrator and society from stopping this behavior.

2. The solutions proposed are not real solutions, but bandaids. We aren’t willing to address the real issues of gun control and
3. The perpetrators in a majority of these situations are men.

Men make it unsafe for children and women, yet we aren’t talking about it. We are instead coming up with all these bandaid ideas that never address the real patriarchal problems we need to face.

When someone asks me:
What are you looking for in a relationship? It’s this right here.

This 90 Year Old couple is still playing after all these years.

Most couples at this age are mailing it in at this point. You can tell though with this couple, they still love each other’s company and are so attuned with each other. Now, that’s special.

Many people have commented on this Shane Gillis “joke” on SNL. Defenders of him say: what’s the big deal? It’s just a joke.
The problem is that it isn’t a joke. It’s just an insult masked as humor. This level of Rogan Kill Tony Manosphere humor is dehumanizing. Priming people to be okay with this lack of empathy not only contributes directly to r*pe culture, but also disconnects people from their humanity. Tolerating these “jokes” is what got a convicted sexual assaulter into the most powerful position in the world. We have to ask ourselves are we this dumb and cruel or are we better than this?

Prove this theory wrong:

It is easier to be a sexual assaulter or pedo than any other time in the 21st century.

Betweem Meta glasses, Flock cameras, and Grok, technology is assisting them in stalking. There seems to be no consequences for police and 🧊 stalking and assaulting detainees. A law loophole actually protects law enforcement who assault detainees. No one in the Epstein files has faced any consequences for their contribution to child trafficking. So, in this warped culture, frat boys can get away with criminal behavior, and we are supposed to laugh at lazy comedians who joke about assaulting women.

So, when I’m asked “why are men so lonely?” I say we deserve it for making a world so unsafe for women, children, and the LGTBQIA community.
