I spent some time thinking about ancestors today. I borrowed this photo from my mom a few years ago, never got the chance to give it back to her. It’s labelled “grandma & grandpa Vance’s 60th wedding anniversary”, with no date. So I think it’s my Gram’s parents or grandparents (the latter likely, as her parents were Nichols. Or maybe they’re grandpa Porter’s parents?)? I don’t recognize any of these people but their features are in my children’s faces (and hair!!). It made me realize that I am the “auntie” now, and I don’t have the answers to “whose mom is that?”, “what year would that be?”, etc., but today I framed this photo (not particularly well but it’s protected at least), and dusted the framed family photos in the hall. I thanked them all for simply existing before me. They surely lived difficult lives, in very different times. I told them that as I heal, they heal. It’s a marvellous photo #ancestors #allsaintsday #samhain by @jenleis

Re-crowned. Whoa that was a brutal install. The contact point was too tight so the dentist filed it down gradually to fit, but getting it back out (repeatedly) was pretty ouchy. 😩 Hopefully this will be the last installation of this dental saga… Then I stopped at the nurse for my B12 shot and got a flu shot while I was there! @lumadentalclinic 🦷#whatswrongwithjen by @jenleis

I was on Uncle Crawfy’s train this morning! He’s delightful and took the edge off being treated like a criminal at the station every morning by the fare-checker police! @unclecrawfy @takethettc by @jenleis

Night of Dread! 🖤💀👻 by @jenleis

Well I had to go back to the dentist yesterday to have my crown removed because it wasn’t fitting properly. 🙄 So I followed up with a little acupuncture with Kim at @danfortheastwellness. I think this might be a record number of needles in one place for me (I also had a few in my feet, legs and hands)! #whatswrongwithjen #acupuncture #imtryingimtryingimtrying by @jenleis

A little flashback to Thanksgiving 2020 popped up. So much to be grateful for, especially everyone around this table. by @jenleis
