We have had a fabulous visit to the Food Museum, where we are planning a new project. Here is our horticulturalist Nik Thomson with their curator Jack Hanlon and the site manager Matthew.
It was so exciting to see the importance they are placing on healthy soil and not wasting anything.
Images show the three guys in the walled garden, the inside of the watermill (a large horizontal wheel with cogs on an upright support) Jennie Pedley's lunch (fabulous quiche containing veg from the garden) and part of the compost demonstration area (a compost bin sliced open to demonstrate what can be composted).

This week you can get involved with wind and water. Visit our exhibition at the Wind Energy Museum, the last day is Friday 25th September.
Thanks to @gressenhall_fw, community participants and funders, including @thenationallottery through @aceagrams

While you are out and about, support our rivers by taking part in The Big River Watch, organised by @theriverstrust, it ends tomorrow evening 24th September.

Edible East invite you to enjoy their exhibition at the Wind Energy Museum this Summer, open Thursday and Friday, 11 till 4, with guided tours and tea rooms.
These images explore the microscopic worlds of Norfolk's landscape and the plants and flowers that grow here.
The exhibition was made and exhibited at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum as part of Through the Microscope- Secrets of Norfolk's changing landscape. Images were made in collaboration with community groups with artists Jennie Pedley and Tara Sampy of Edible East. With thanks to participants from: Dereham Aid Centre, Kings Lynn home schooled families, Dereham Library and The Feed Social Supermarket community garden launch in Lakenham. Supported by public funds from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

The Wind Energy Museum is an incredible place to discover historical mechanisms, which were formerly used to harness natural energy.
@tarasampy and @jenniepedley are gradually installing art they made with local people, exploring the microscopic worlds of Norfolk's environment.
The work was part of the project 'Through the Microscope- secrets of Norfolk's changing landscape' with @edibleeast at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum in 2025. Supported by local scientists and archivists.
The Wind Energy Museum is at Repps with Bastwick in Norfolk, UK, its near the coast so you can cool off afterwards. Open Thursdays and Fridays during the summer, book online and pay £3-£5 entry fee.

Between the rain showers, we at Edible East, are installing Through the Microscope - secrets of Norfolk's changing landscape community exhibition on the dramatic structures at the Wind Energy Museum.
These exciting historic wind pumps were used to drain the fens, creating peaty soil for food growing but also altering Norfolk's wildlife habitats. The complex stories of Norfolk's environment then and now, come together in this combination of art and wind energy engineering. The art was inspired by recent research into Norfolk's environmental challenges @johninnescentre, and the Centre for Microbial Interactions.
Created at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum and in Lakenham in Norwich the artwork was created by local people and funded by public money from the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Thanks also to Norwich Consolidated Charity, The Friends of Gressenhall and to Norfolk County Council.
The panels were recently shown at the Museum of Norwich launching @norwichsciencefestival.

Thanks to the Museum of Norwich for hosting our exhibition in their courtyard, from February, during Norwich Science Festival until early May.
We are excited to be touring these images, which explore scientific stories about the Norfolk environment, to the Wind Energy Museum. This Museum hosts many strange and wonderful wind pumps, many of which were used to drain the Norfollk wetlands for agricultural purposes.
Thanks to @gressenhall_fw who hosted our Through the Microscope exhibition and the creation of these artworks with local communities.

@jenniepedley of @edibleeast ate dirt yesterday in London at the @museum_of_edible_earth exhibition @somersethouse.
Many cultures across the world apparently consume particular types of earth for health, cultural and or spiritual reasons. The white rock pictured is made up of fossilised diatoms. These wonderfully shaped microscopic water-based lifeforms featured in our last exhibition Through the Microscope - secrets of Norfolk's changing landscape, @gressenhall_fw. In their fossilised form, they don't have a strong flavour!
Edible East are planning new projects exploring edible landscapes, so this is all good food for thought!
The Edible Earth exhibition continues for another two days.

It was wonderful for artist Jennie Pedley to be able to share her late father's sculptures with Mark Smith from @visionnorfolk at her exhibition @anterosarts last month in Norwich. Mark is blind and used his hands to explore the fifteen abstract sculptures made by Peter Pedley in the 1970s.
Since running a plant printmaking worshop with with gardeners with impaired vision @norfolklibraries as part of the Power of Gardening exhibition from the British Library. Artists @Tarasampy and @JenniePedley of Edible East have been starting to learn from Mark and others at Vision Norfolk about how to make art and creative activities more accessible to those with a variety of Vision impairments. Thanks to @visionnorfolk.

Sunshine is revealing a surprising mix of the inside and outside of Norwich's historic architecture populated by silhouettes of Norfolk families and their beautiful prints of local plants. Enjoy this view on a free visit to the sunny courtyard of the Museum of Norwich and peep back in through the windows into the shop, during museum opening hours.
The images were created with Ukranians and home school families by @edibleeast at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum as part of our residency project Through the Microscope - secrets of Norfolk's changing landscape.
Some silhouettes were captured at the launch of the Feed's Social Supermarket community growing event in Jubilee Park.
Note - you can visit the Jubilee Park food growing project in Lakenham, Norwich as part of the Community Garden Festival.

Some of my prints of tabletop landscapes are on display at Anteros today, the final day of my joint exhibition with my late father, Peter Pedley.
This is a detail of an image whoch I created as part of a commission for Bruce Castle Museum, London to explore the work of one of the first writers for children, the Quaker Priscilla Wakefield (1751 -1832).
Priscilla was primarily a nature writer and her discussion of samphire inspired this scene which I created during lockdown.
Priscilla also drew people's attention to injustice, including that of the sugar plantations in her scenes set at the afternoon tea table. She was the aunt of the philanthropist Elizabeth Fry.

Three new drawings which were inspired by the wind energy museum, Norfolk's museum of rural life and the historic collection of the John Innes Foundation. Also three wonderful women, some of my guests from the John Inness Centre who visited diring the Thursday evening open view, with warm coloured clothes to match the artwork!
I'm loving using reclaimed materials no longer needed in the architecture and film industry to explore agricultural and land use stories.

This tiny work of mine at Anteros Gallery is made up of layered translucent prints, stills from my film commission for the D'Arcy Thomson Zoology Museum, Dundee in 2013. The film is called On Aristotle as a Biologist, which is the title of a lecture made by Thomson, a Victorian polymath at Cambridge University.
If you can't make it to Anteros in the next few days you can watch the film on my website. It features backlit footage of marine specimen, and a voice over about Aristotle's discoveries, including his thoughts on dredging.
I learnt so much on this project, too much to include here.
