Another exciting publication announcement! 📚✨
I just received my copy of "Robot Theaters: Collisions in Performance and Social Robotics," edited by Hilary Bergen, @ericmullisprojects , @bennysimon68 , and @sydneyskybetter I’m honored to share two essays reflecting on my interviews with @joyproject and @sydneyskybetter about their time working with robotics company Boston Dynamics and their institute partner, the Robotics and AI Institute (RAI).
From Joy’s experience on the industrial commercial "No Time to Dance" to Sydney’s research fellowship at the RAI Institute, these conversations explore how dancers move through complex negotiation of creative vision, power, trust, credit, and capital when interfacing with the commercial tech world.

In other exciting news, I came home to find my copy of “The Routledge Companion to Performance and Technology.” I’m thrilled that I got to share the story behind feminist unboxing along with my methodology worksheet, and I’m honored feminist unboxing sits alongside so many of today’s formative thinkers and makers in performance/tech. Thank you @sydneyskybetter, @onassis.onx and Pamela Tatge for inviting me to speak at the Future Figures Symposium at Jacob’s Pillow. The day was a rich, multi-course meal of delicious artist offerings. We embraced and challenged each other. The generative tension and joy was palpable. — This was also the first time I walked the grounds of @jacobspillow - the buzz of dance activity, vibration of history, and sheer passion for making great, live art pulsates here. What a gift. I will forever remember the smell of fresh wood as I walked up to the new Doris Duke Theatre. Thank you, thank you, thank you. by @jessica.rajko

NYC Friends - If you’re free Saturday night and want to take in an amazing dance film festival, I’d love to see you at @kineticdancefilmfestival for the premiere of /slice. I’ll be there and would love to see you too!! It’s going to be a short trip for me with Iris in tow, so I won’t have a lot of extra time while in the city. Today, we celebrate the rich, full life of our dear dog Pumba. After a beautiful 18 years on the earth and 16 years in our family, we honor him and his passing. Pumba has been an integral part of our family. He saw us through life transitions: leaving grad school, moving into four homes in two states, and becoming parents. He loved tug of war, treats and toys, and butt rubs. He hated stairs. He was our circus dog, propping up on his back legs when he wanted our attention. He was a dear dog brother to our other doggie Lilu. He was the best friend to Iris, me, Stjepan, and everyone who knew him. I can’t believe he has been with us this long, and I can’t believe he’s gone. Will will miss you Pumba, but we will also hold onto the love, joy, and companionship you gifted us each day. I am excited to share that as of Monday I accepted a new position as the Acting Associate Dean of the College of Fine, Performing, and Communication Arts. I look to stretching my interdisciplinary muscles in this new role and learning more about all the artists, scholars, teachers, staff, and students across the college.

Thank you everyone in the department of theatre and dance for your ongoing love and support. @hannah_and_moves caught this picture of me at our last curriculum committee meeting. It sums up so much…
