‘Same River, Same Ocean’ for @dkcherrytree I told Danny around this time last year that I was interested in exploring landscapes. For me that meant just nature, no figures. I think at the time I wanted to push myself to the edges of my comfort zone, but as I was working on it, especially these last few months, I was like “what am I doing?” This is so internal but I think I was trying to emulate a style that wasn’t really my own. Which is totally normal and I don’t beat myself up about it, just a part of growing. I only have a few photos of the original before I cut it up (high risk! high reward!), but I “finished” the landscape and knew I wanted to use what I’d already made and repurpose it into something kind of new and different, but that still belonged within my own visual language. I’m glad I did. It felt like returning to myself. The personal details of the piece are just for me and DK, but the title is from a card I wrote to him in 2023: Thank you for swimming in the same river as me. I hear they all lead to the ocean. by @jessiemahon_
‘Not Yet’ Colored pencil and marker on cotton paper 16 x 20 inches, 2026 A drawing for anyone who feels too much, all the time. by @jessiemahon_
Last week there were a few days in which I had work showing simultaneously in New York, Paris, Mexico City, and Los Angeles. Lots of ups and downs lately, but this felt pretty good. by @jessiemahon_
My grandma’s perfect, school teacher cursive and manufactured coffee stains from my grandpa. For my series exploring memory / questioning whether we’re reliable narrators (even to ourselves). ‘Birthday Card’ 6 x 10 inches, 2026 Colored pencil on cotton paper by @jessiemahon_
These memory drawings have travelled with me from Portugal to Los Angeles to Mexico to New York. The series (15 complete!) has been through a title change and, eventually, I’d like to exhibit dozens and dozens of them alongside a self-published art book. These have been a good reminder to just make what I want to make, on my own terms and at my own pace. I’m excited to see where all of it is going. ♡ by @jessiemahon_
New work. đŸŒžđŸ„€ For anyone who sometimes, despite everything seeming more or less okay, feels slightly removed from their own life and struggles making sense of that. ‘Amnesia’ Colored pencil and india ink marker in cotton paper 16 x 20 inches, 2026 Not for sale (yet!)
. It’s for a show I’m developing with @kelseyshultis about loneliness. Usually my figures have no clothes so all of these textiles felt like a real treat. by @jessiemahon_

Collaging to give new life to old drawings. I’m developing a dozen of these, ideally to be shown and sold all together. DM me if you’re a collector, gallerist, or curator and this feels like a fit. x ‘Skydrop 12’ Colored pencil and marker on paper 7 x 7 inches, 2026 by @jessiemahon_
