Plot twist of the year bc this was DEFINITELY not on my 2026 bingo card . It still feels crazy typing this out… and even crazier sharing it. I actually wasn’t planning on sharing this yet. I wanted to keep everything private a little longer while I continued going through the process, but I decided to finally share it. The funny thing is, this wasn’t exactly a brand-new idea. Over the years, my brother-in-law would jokingly bring up me joining, and I’d always laugh and think, “Yeahhh… don’t know about all that.” Then my sister would bring it up too. Eventually, somewhere along the way, the jokes turned into me secretly thinking… “Wait… what if I actually did it?” I didn’t tell them at first that I was seriously considering it. But when the idea kept coming back around over the last few months, I started wondering if maybe there was a reason. I started looking at it as a sign from God. Maybe the Navy kept being placed in front of me because I was finally supposed to stop laughing it off and actually consider it. So I did. I kept the whole process private with only immediate family knowing up until now. And trust me, my brain was ALL over the place. Am I crazy? Am I making the right decision for myself? What is everyone going to think? But at the end of the day, I know I have to do what’s best for me and the future I want to build. The more I study my little butt off for the PiCAT/ASVAB, talked with my family, and started talking with my recruiter, the more I started thinking…Okay. Maybe I’m not crazy. Maybe this really is a direction I’m supposed to explore. I’m doing this bc I want more for myself. I want independence. I want to travel. I want new experiences. I want to challenge myself. I want to grow. And I want to build a future that I’m genuinely proud of. Am I nervous as hell? ABSOLUTELY. Am I going to cry like a baby when the day eventually comes for me to leave? 100000%. Am I probably going to have moments at boot camp thinking, “Girl… why did you do this?!” Without a doubt. But am I excited? VERY. So yeah… the secret is finally out. I’m stepping into a new season of life and continuing this journey of officially joining the Navy⚓️🇺🇸 by @jhoyandco
