Our dearest Olive has crossed over.  The first photo is the last one I have of her in my phone from a few weeks ago and the second photo is the first one have from 2015, a year after we got her.  She aged gracefully, if not, unwillingly.  As Father Time and Mother Nature claimed her body, she vehemently kept her soul and spirit.  She stood her ground when she had to, she snarled when she needed to, and she loved when she wanted to.  It's true that she was indifferent to most people, but to those that she let in, we felt an honest, pure, and genuine affection that made us feel truly special.  She took a piece of my heart with her on Friday that I don't want back, because it belongs to her.  Rest easy, sweet girl. by @jm_petes
Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of the Steal Your Sunday series from @wwjd_band. It started on a Sunday afternoon back in Feb 2020, but we only got 1 show before the bottom fell out. They came back, though, and have been killing it ever since. Yesterday's show had a ton of highlights, but I especially loved the NFA>Fire>GDTRFB rocker. An honest and heart-felt thank you for keeping this going. There is a genuine sense of community at and from these shows, and for a few hours each month, the outside world fades away enough to find that special magic that Jerry and the gang sought long ago. You are true stewards of the trip and should be proud of what has been created. @wwjd_band @zoetropolis #gratefuldead by @jm_petes

What started as 8 peppers, 3 bulbs of garlic, and 2 large onions all on the grill for various amounts of time ended up in this. The peppers roasted long enough to pull apart in strips from the skin. They get packed in oil. The garlic gets put in the mini food processor with some oil and becomes whipped garlic. The onions stay on the longest and turn so sweet they become like candy and can make even raw kale taste wonderful. Put all 3 of these on a hunk of crusty bread while they’re still warm and I had to actually explain the noise I made. Side note...I took a bag of about 3 pounds of fresh hand picked hot peppers to my dad and he loved it. He’ll pickle, dry, and do all sorts of things with them. The bounty of @homefields_csa still bringing it late in October. Love it!!!! #supportyourlocalcsa #knowwhereyourfoodcomesfrom #organic #plantbased by @jm_petes
Next in the “stuff from the fridge” series. Well, this one included “stuff in the cupboard” and “stuff on top of the fridge.” Anyway, black beans with onyon, garlic, tomato and random herbs. Put avocado, radish, olive oil hon top with a hunk of good bread. Wine, of course. @homefields_csa for everything including inspiration and @lemonstmarket for one of the best food experiences in town and for challenging me to make meals out of random ingredients....even if you didn’t know it!! #organic #knowwhereyourfoodcomesfrom #supportyourlocalcsa #lancasterfarms #eatlocal by @jm_petes
Pesto pasta?? Well, sort of. A pairing of “stuff in the fridge” with “stuff that goes together” yielded spaghetti with part cilantro-sage-lime-garlic and part avocado-olive oil that actually worked! As always, thanks to @homefields_csa and @lemonstmarket for everything. #knowwhereyourfoodcomesfrom #cilantro #avocado #lancaster #supportyourcsa #buylocal by @jm_petes
