Three and a half years ago, I picked up a camera for the first time. Today, I was honored to be named the CSC College Division Photographer of the Year. It’s still difficult to put into words what it felt like to hear my name called. Since that first time behind the lens, I’ve learned an incredible amount and developed a passion for chasing the perfect image at every event. Before joining the GLVC, I never could have imagined receiving an honor like this. It’s incredibly gratifying to have the countless hours spent traveling, shooting, editing, and continually trying to improve recognized in such a meaningful way. I can’t thank Commissioner Jim Naumovich and the GLVC enough for taking a chance on a 22-year-old kid from rural Wisconsin. I’m also grateful to everyone who has helped me along the way and to CSC for shining a light on the work that college communicators devote so much of their lives to. Congratulations to the other award winners; it was an honor to be recognized alongside so many talented individuals. This award is something I’ll always be proud of, and I’m excited to continue telling the stories of our student-athletes through the lens. by @jmcfarlane75
