The historian Frances Stonor Saunders died recently at age 60. Her book Who Paid the Piper? pulled back the curtain on postwar CIA funding of Western cultural institutions — despite repeated attempts to censor it, including by her American publisher. @jacobinmag

Rest in power, Glen
We’ll miss ya, lad

I filmed these wee videos at Glen’s (and Marketa’s) concert at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on July 26, 2025, a year and about three days before hearing the terrible news. Like many audiences, we got the treat of singing background (see videos two and three, sorta).

While I liked my third row seats, since they were off to the right side my pal and I could only see the top of marketa’s head behind the piano for much of the show. But we were glad to hear her play and equally glad to see her come up to the front, to sing beside old Glen, as in the final video. by @joelpwhitney
