My first 100 miler!
I had never been as nervous as I was at the start of this race. It felt absolutely daunting but also so intriguing for all 37+ hours.
I had 4 people accompany me that made it one of the best days of my life. Shane, aka Hubby, dealt with my nerves and was the best crew chief who doesn’t even know what a crew chief is! He drove so many hours to be there for me and to get other people to me. He also knows no bounds when I need a snacky. He can always seem to find me (even on a 100 mile course) and give me that look I love so much saying “I can’t believe you’re out here doing this!”
Chantel was with me for every single hour in the dark. From mile 45-72, it felt like just another mountain adventure with her. It was hard to imagine running the rest without her, but I kept her words with me until the end. She really believed I could do it, and I’ll always value her friendship and encouragement.
James and Alaina saw me run the North Fork 50 miler a few months ago, and they waited at the finish line with the best party vibes. They said if I ever needed a crew to ask, and I sure did! James was faced with the heat of the day and more miles than he had ever run before. From mile 72 to 95, he kept me on schedule and in great spirits. I did start consuming a lot of caffeine so I could stop whining so much and work on persuading him to do this again one day! We met the legendary Tara Dower and a bunch of her legendary crew at our first aid station! He was brave enough to get a selfie. I was a starstruck fangirl.
Alaina was asked to do something I didn’t ask anyone else: don’t allow me to walk! She ran with me for the last 8 miles. I choked and gagged down half a poptart and locked in. I needed to get to that couch. I hope that the finish line energy convinced her to also do this again one day!
The finisher shirt says “I’m not as soft as you thought” but I don’t think anyone thought I was soft except for me! You never know what kind of day you’ll get in the mountains, and I will never forget these 37 hours.
Thanks @sanjuansoftie for the amazing course and support!

How amazing it was to see @_swamp_sunflower_ after 20 years! I know I’ll see you again soon! by @joggingashco

This adventure is happening next month! If anyone wants to come hang out in the San Juan mountains and help coax me towards the finish line, the more the merrier! I can see crew members starting at mile 45 where I can also have pacers until the end. There is a 25 mile, 24 mile, and 8 mile section to pace. It’s a remote race, so these mile markers are also the only easily accessible spots for most cars if you decide you have to drop from pacing duties. All other stations require high clearance vehicles. Other than pacing, I can always use help with loading up my pack and just general good vibes! If you’re interested, we can talk logistics because I’m still figuring all of that out 😄 by @joggingashco

I’m closing out February with my big post on how much I love @runningupforair @sufferbetter and @trail_sisters
After a big race, we always want to go back in time and feel it all again. After every 7 mile loop, I was greeted by the best people ever that encouraged me to keep going and helped me get enough snackies to continue on. I even had help from a friend who wasn’t there who gave me my favorite candy and the sweetest encouraging notes to open at certain milestones. I had my hopes set on 10 loops, and on some of those loops, that felt impossible. I ran alone for the most part. I had Primus, Hayley Williams, Cheap Perfume, and Bad Bunny in my ear. For the last two loops, I got to run with a wonderful woman who I didn’t know very well yet, but time flew by with her, and I almost wished it wouldn’t end! (My feet wanted it to end.) I’m grateful she took these videos to let me relive the end of this effort. I left with a beautiful handmade cup and so much gratitude in my heart.
I showed up to this race very nervous because I knew what I wanted to do but had never done it before. I have my hopes set on something bigger later this year, and I’m nervous again, but that’s what it’s all about.
The fundraiser for Conservation Colorado is open until the end of March, so give if you can especially if you live in Colorado and are worried about the sad, dry winter we’ve had. The link is in my bio.
P.S. The last picture shows exactly what running for 22 hours felt like 🤣 Am I still awake? I’m not sure. by @joggingashco
