A short snippet into a film that was created by myself and wonderful wonderful people for @thehorsfall and @42ndstreetmcr 10by10 festival and symposium / nice to celebrate such a cool organisation doing really impactful work!

This was a really emotional journey to make the film and document not only my experience of grief but everyone who was involved brought their own experience as well which made it into the most beautiful collaborative form of expression.

I am so so proud of this process and the outcome, it’s definitely proven to myself that I can do more than I think!

Hope you enjoy these 30 seconds :) if anyone wants to see it in person, it’ll be on at Horsfall space over the festival 🤍 by @john.til_

This purple object is a-part of a Grief Series. Purple is the everyday weight of grief. This object was born through expressing the heavy, weighted feeling of grief. As if you are operating everyday with a weight on your head, never realising how freely you walked before. Free from the difficulty between wanting to be rested until the weight is gone and not wanting to miss out on anymore life. This object was an experience of recognising this place of grief. Throughout this series I have recognised different emotional states throughout an everyday experience of grieving and expressed them through images of body poses with sewn expressions of emotion. Each object in the series is born from a different emotion. These objects convey the emotion visually as well as inflicting the emotion physically - if you wear the purple object for an extended period of time, the heaviness comes onto the back of the neck and head, forcing a discomforting pain. Lovely day gathering sounds, gradients, shapes of nests and mirrors facing side to side and above/below. by @john.til_

This project was a complete reckoning with methods for gathering, community-building, co-creation, choreographing time and space to meet each other, returning again and again, an enquiry of how to co-habit, seek kinship with the more-than-human and why I think dancing like a tectonic plate will allow us to embody deep time and disrupt human-centred ecology.

I could write endlessly about what this has taught me and living with this work with these artists who continuously inspired me, made me laugh until my ribs hurt, question everything, often solve everything, I’ll never get over it, and maybe in some ways I’ll always be making this. Thankyou to these friends who went all in, an honour to world-build with you all <3

Drawn to the fluidity of the marks against the manipulation of the solid materiality of the metal. Having something fluid and impulsive, then counteracting it with a heavily orchestrated display or rigid materials happens quite often throughout the things I make. Note to self! X by @john.til_

Some more clips of our recent trio iteration of @john.til_ 's Still, We Move with Tilly and @hellogeorgiemac moving and me in live improvised dialogue with them. In the background is Tilly's visual art installation which also formed part of the opening event of the As It Is festival curated by @purple._j

Looking forward to seeing what the next version ends up like.

I forgot to bring a tablecloth so apologies for the relaxed extreme wide leg pose. Lesson learned. This is the first time I've worked ambidextrously so it was interesting and fun as well as quite intense. Absolute pleasure to watch and work with Tilly and Georgie and be made to feel so welcome by Jaia and team.

Clips are I think by @franzine_0131 @purple._j and @hsinying_0301 by @john.til_

A short video and sound clip of the recent performance with @applicabletenses and @hellogeorgiemac for exhibition, As It Is.

The sound was an incredible improv piece which brought out this intense and dynamic relationship between us all. This is a short snippet of what was which will probably never be recreated in that same exact way.

More video clips to come! So hard watching myself back 🤢 by @john.til_
