I definitely studied!👍🏽🎼🎶🎵🎛🎚🎙🥁🎹🎻🎧

Essay question number 17:
(some other questions were: 1. Why did you become a producer? Do 2. Do you think musicians are better producers than producers who aren't musicians? 42. Is it possible to produce/write music for more than one genre without compromising the authenticity of the genre? why or why not?

Choose a genre you produce: Choose an album that you think is the best from a producer's point of view. Explain the difference, if any from the viewpoint of a producer and that of being a fan.

I chose the album the Main Ingredient produced by the one and only Pete Rock.

As a hip/hop sample and non sample based producer, I have gained a new perception of this album musically due to producing for many years. As a fan I love the album for the obvious soulful, jazzy, euphoric, gritty sound. As a producer, my perpesctive has changed and how this album separates itself from other albums of it's genre and Era. There are the tribes, gang starr, wu tang, nas, the roots, main source, camp lo, de la, slum vill, etc. that birthed classics. As a hiphop producer, I recognize the formula or process of identifying sample, sample loop, drums, bass line, additional instruments, drops, etc. This process is relatively the same for these albums as well as all hiphop production. This process has captured the essence and timeless sound of HipHop.

However, Pete took it to another level with "The main ingredient" album that separates it from the other classics. This album contained samples that stood out. The samples he chose highlighted some of the most obscure and popular groups of from "back in the day". The way he filtered, layered and intertwined the samples was so intricate and seamless, it is easy to overlook. Each track had a unique filter or alter of the sample whether the track contained 3 samples or a sample that was crafted in an odd meter not 8 or 16 bars, etc. The overall mix, interludes and bass lines were truly unprecedented. The drums even often contained more than one sample. The insight to the genius of this album can only be gained through study, interviews or actually being a hiphop producer. by @johnniemrw

the most enjoyable way to listen to music is through headphones in my opinion. I like to Mix my music with the use of headphones too. For producers, engineers, etc. try two mixes; a room mix and one with headphones and see which mix sounds best to you by @johnniemrw

the 10 movie challenge: These challenges are dope because they allow you to learn about a person's personality and interests. They give you a chance to see how much you have in common with people you're connected to through social media. They also offer recommendations of music and movies you might like. Can anyone think of any other reasons these challenges are good? lol

I nominate everyone who wants to participate by @johnniemrw
