Shout out to all the single parents out there, I see you and feel you a little more these days. My talented and amazing wife has been traveling a lot lately, and fighting illness in between. You don’t quite understand the flow you have with someone till you don’t have it, or how challenging it is to manage it all on your own... drop off, pick up, breakfasts, snacks, dinners, homework, bedtime, etc. Shout out to my pretty f’n rad kids too. Love all y’all…

Are you the pilot or the passenger?

Does the room tell you how to feel? Do you take a million details into account, letting them inform the direction you go? Is there never enough time for you because of all the self-sacrifice?

We have faith in things we can’t see every day… our heartbeat, our breath, the sunrise. Why not have faith that it will all work out? by @johnnieroyale

Retreat: to withdraw, to pull back.

A dear friend told me the other day how artful he is at carrying a lot. And he is. It’s a real skill. My invitation to him was to see how artful he could be with release.

We cannot receive with a closed hand, gripping tightly to what we think “needs” to be. Whether you’re wanting more time for yourself, more money, more love, or simply a little more grace, to receive, we need to be open.

Not everyone has 5 to 10 days to slip away somewhere beautiful. But we do have two and a half hours, right here in LA, to practice opening the hand.

Tomorrow, Sunday
Arrive 12:45pm, we begin at 1pm

If you don’t leave more in touch with yourself, with a nervous system that’s a little quieter, your experience is on me.

Much ❤️ by @johnnieroyale

Five months in, and this one is almost full…we doin’ it.

I’m in awe of the work people are brave enough to do, of the chance to hold a container where it can happen, and of the skill of my friend and partner @vanessathehealer.

So much informs the choices we make. So much gives or takes that spacious, free feeling.

Come look under the hood. See what’s shaping how you show up.
A couple spots left. Much ❤️

This Sunday, 1pm, come feel what it’s like to release. by @johnnieroyale

We can’t get rid of tension. Without it, the world as we know it couldn’t exist.
But we can change our relationship with it, and the most profound ways I’ve found are available to all of us. I teach a couple of them.

Yoga schedule in my bio. Breathwork by appointment. Next micro-retreat is this Sunday at 1pm.

A big week, and a little piece of why it matters to me. 🤍

Starting this week, I’m at @yogabyjoek every Tuesday and Thursday at 9am. And this Sunday at 1pm, @vanessathehealer and I gather for the fifth edition of our micro-retreats.

Eight years ago I was feeling something, and I couldn’t name it. It wasn’t wrong, but it wasn’t right either, just off. These practices helped me find my way back to choosing my own life. Swipe through for the rest.

If any of it sounds familiar, come sit with me. There’s room on the mat.

📍 Yoga by Joe K, West Hollywood
Tues + Thurs, 9am
