This is the Halo adaptation I want to watch. The helmet stays ON.

FanForge Dream Casting: Halo Edition — Part One.

I've put together my picks for UNSC command, the Spartan-IIs, Marines, ODSTs and the younger cast, including the alternatives I couldn't quite let go of.

Which casting choice did I nail? Which one would you replace immediately? Give me the character AND your actor— I'm ready to be convinced 😂

Tag a friend who'd watch this with you, share it with the Halo fans in your life, and tag the actor you want in that role. If any of the cast sees this, I'd love to hear your thoughts too.

I want to see this made. Let's hear your dream cast.

My casting picks include:
@slang_711 saghdashloo @idriselba @chadlcoleman @ansonmount @cardcarrying_thomasjane @gilliana @robingwright @sdownes117 @danielcudmore @alanritchson @rebecca_ferguson @zoesaldana @frankieadams @yahya @tommypelphrey @prattprattpratt @nathanfillion @walker.scobell @masonthames

My own commentary, with AI role illustrations. Unofficial fan casting; no casting announcement or actor involvement is implied.

I'm building FanForge for people with stories, worlds and unfinished creative projects.

Writing, lore, artwork and planning, with the thinking kept alongside the work. The maps and city examples are development previews.

Try joinfanforge.com and tell me what would help you create.

This week in FanForge: the workspace update is live, with Board drafts and Undo history staying put when the layout changes, plus easier mobile note controls.

Behind the scenes, I've been testing connected maps, saving an Atlas together and importing backups as separate copies. Map Forge is still in testing, not released. Footage uses fictional QA projects.

What would you like me to show next?

A man in Crocs. An alien invasion. A cat. Somehow I wasn't prepared for how much heart this book has.

Very late to Dungeon Crawler Carl, immediately ordering the next one. Where did this series hook you? No later-book spoilers, please.

What would you want to explore here?

Concept artwork from a made-up game project. A reference for the work, rather than a screenshot of a playable game.

Your manuscript isn't the whole project.

There's the worldbuilding, artwork, feedback, and the people helping it take shape. I'm building FanForge to keep that work connected, including what changed and who contributed.

Your story is complicated. Your workspace shouldn’t be.

I’ve been simplifying FanForge on mobile. The new Lore Bible is live; the other redesign views here are previews. I’m starting the desktop redesign too, with a glimpse of Map Forge, still in development.

Map Forge builds on Amit Patel’s open-source Mapgen4 work at Red Blob Games. Fictional demo material is shown.

What would make the biggest difference to your creative workflow?

A quick look at this week's FanForge work: comparing saved drafts, flexible screenplay headings, map saving and recovery, plus a tidy-up across Lore, Board and Writing.

These additions are still in testing, not released. The examples are fictional QA projects.

What would you like a closer look at?

A quieter week publicly, but plenty happening in testing.

Comparing saved drafts and editing screenplay headings have moved into QA. Saved-document export and text/Markdown import have been tested too.

Map Forge now saves and reopens maps in an isolated test environment. We've checked failed saves, conflicting edits and keeping the original artwork with the map.

We've also been refining Lore, Board and Writing in our local review build.

None of these additions is released yet. Next comes review and the remaining release checks.

Which would you reach for first: comparing drafts or keeping your maps with the project?

When a project moves forward, I don’t want the people who helped to get lost along the way.

This made-up project shows the contribution, the review and who accepted it. It records the work and credit, rather than deciding legal ownership.

How do you keep track of who contributed what?

I’m looking for early testers who are making something they care about.

Try one real piece of work in FanForge, then tell me what helped and what got in the way. That feedback will help shape what comes next.

The early tester application is at joinfanforge.com. If someone comes to mind, feel free to send this their way.

“Which draft was that?”

I’m interested in how people actually handle this, especially when feedback comes from more than one person.

Where do your drafts and revision notes live at the moment?
