Home in time for an incredible saffron harvest! 😍🌱🍂 by @jonnysells1

✸✸✸✸✸

Jonathan Sells, founder of the Solomon’s Knot ensemble and current director of the Monteverdi Choir, reflects on the evolution of Baroque opera in recent years. At a time when productions are increasingly relying on additions and spectacular effects, the British-Swiss singer and conductor reflects on how to bring early music to life without distorting it.

Yet his career path is not that of a ‘traditionalist’: performing without a score, exploring the fringes of the repertoire, reinventing formats – but always with the aim of delving deeper into the text, the structure and collective listening.
