What. A. Month. I’m only now recovered enough to start processing it all. THANK YOU to every single person on and off this flyer that made this possible. Thank you for believing in us for 3 years in a row. We are so overwhelmed with the love and how incredible the vibe was all weekend. To have the privilege to create something meaningful like this with my best friends is a blessing beyond what I ever imagined and I’m grateful every day. What a lot of people still don’t know is that Wynwood Pride was started by my two best friends and I out of their apartment with some help from a couple of other friends. We started this because we believed Miami needed a June Pride festival that reflected it as a cultural hub by displaying the best of its own QTPOC talent, our allies talent, and the talent of our favorite artists in NYC, Chicago, LA, and around the world. We wanted to see more of our own people booked and given a fabulous stage to show the world their artistry. We wanted to be POC-forward. We wanted to be trans-forward. We wanted to be femme-forward. We wanted to spotlight and donate to other organizations we knew were doing the hard work for our community. We truly wanted to unify the Miami LGBTQ scene. Despite being met early on with false claims and attacks that the festival was “put together by corporate cis straight white men who’s intentions were to profit off the gays”, we forged on because our original sense of purpose and desire to bring this pride to the community is much stronger than any of these foolish lies. 3 years later I can say we are doing what we set out to do. I am so proud and blown away by what we have done and continue to do with just sheer will, hard work, and the power of our relationships. It truly takes a village. See you next year, we are only going to make it bigger and better for you all! This Pride is for you. THANK YOU! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️❤️‍🔥 taken in Miami, Florida by @hyphentalent
