Goodbye high school wrestling Five years ago I was an 8th grader, scared to step into a high school room and wrestle JV. I didn’t know if I belonged. But from day one, that room became my 2nd home. Freshman year I went 0–2 at state. Sophomore year I was one match away from placing. But junior year, became only the second wrestler in school history to win a region championship. Junior and senior year I stood on that podium, placing 3rd in the state both times. Along the way I became just the second junior ever inducted into the 100 win club, broke school records, competed at National Preps the last two years, and stepped on the mat at Super 32. From JV as an 8th grader to moments I once only dreamed about. My goal was to be a state champion. I didn’t accomplish that, and it hurts. But wrestling taught me that sometimes God’s plan is bigger than the medal you are chasing. I trust that He is writing a better story than I could have planned for myself. I’m thankful to God for letting me compete in this sport and for giving me the strength and ability to chase it. He carried me through every high and low and gave me everything I needed along the way. This sport taught me discipline when I was exhausted, toughness when I wanted to quit, humility in losses, and confidence through preparation. It taught me that growth is built in the dark long before anyone sees the results. Thank you to my parents for every early morning, every late night, every mile traveled, and every sacrifice so I could chase this dream. Thank you to my coaches for believing in me before I believed in myself. Thank you to my teammates, my brothers, for the battles in the room and the memories I will carry forever. I will miss every single one of you. It is bittersweet closing this chapter. High school wrestling gave me more than wins. It gave me grit. It gave me family. It gave me faith. Forever grateful. The next chapter begins. #swordsupbu⚔️ High school accomplishments: • 4x TSSAA State Qualifier • 2x TSSAA State Placer (3rd Place) • 1x Region Champion • 1x National All-American • 2x National Prep Qualifier • 100 Win Club Member • 4 School Records by @jordycrouch_
