MONSTRUO Q n A con ALEXCO y JOSE CONDE
Sunday, October 18 · 2:00 – 3:00pm/ America East Coast (LINK in BIO)
JOIN US for an important Q and A meeting with ALEXCO and producer/director JOSE CONDE RE: the upcoming release of MONSTRUO , a peace bomb single and video from Costa Rica! While war ravages much of the planet making 2026 one of the bloodiest of years amongst bloody years, Costa Rica continues to enjoy and cultivate Peace! From a country that has not had a military since 1949, war seems an antiquated, backwards, and horrific idea. This is the perspective of Costa Rican singer songwriter ALEXCO, who in his new release clearly and sternly critiques all war mongers irrespective of political affiliation singing “You are not human, you are a Monster!”

The video was filmed at historic sites tied to the abolition of the military, such as the Santa María de Dota church, which in 1948, preceding the abolition, was the headquarters for Figueres’ Peace Army. ALEXCO is seen here singing in front of the church: “I don’t want to hear bombs nor see the destruction of the world, only cause of your capriciousness; you are not human, you are a monster.” The former Bellavista Barracks basement was a particularly powerful and dark site, where ALEXCO is shown singing in what used to be an underground prison for war criminals. This site is currently the National Museum of Costa Rica, and the surrounding yellow wall—where in 1949 a victorious José “Pepe” Figueres famously removed a brick to commemorate the abolition—serves as the backdrop to the record and video-clip cover.

Produced and arranged by José Conde, the driving indie-rock track is ALEXCO’s first full band recording with vocal and violin contribution from special guest MIREYA of the mariachi band FLOR DE TOLACHE. @alexco_ok @redstagstudio @yeyasmiles by @josecondemusic

Kristos Lezama is a Mexican singer songwriter and artist illustrator with an eye for surreal humor. He has beautifully captured the essence of my song ELEFANTE en HOTEL with his illustrations inspired by my lyrics. I wrote the song based on a @natgeo photo of an odd scene at Mapfume Lodge in South Africa where elephants on their migratory route still find their mangoes. The hotel was built open for them with their roots in mind. Many thanks to Kristo for this amazing celebration of my song! Give him a follow to see more of his artwork and make sure to check his music on Spotify! @kristoslez KRISTOS LEZAMA graxias compadre! This song appears on my first solo, self titled album and also on a Putumayo compilation. @putumayo_world_music #mapfumelodge #elephants #habitatloss #animalmigration #mangos by @josecondemusic

The Anne Ronnell classic jazz standard Willow wheat for me has always been one of my favorites. Billy holidays version is the most popular and she did it deliciously slow and drawn out. I’ve taken it in the direction of Brazil and bossa nova blues. Recorded on the iPhone from Margie‘s porch in the Bywater New Orleans this September 5 Labor Day weekend 2026. My solo at the end is a little tribute to my brother the great Trombone player from down the way @funkybigsam ! Hope you enjoy.. #porchsong #neworleans #billieholiday #jazz #brazil by @josecondemusic

Remixing this beautiful track by @burgoscr I have opted for a subtle focusing towards French pop mostly using and enhancing re processing and “coloring” some of the elements already in the track originally released earlier this year as part of his band @nebulacr_ and also adding in some of my vocals and silky wall of oohs :)) ahhhh this is fun! I love my work! This is like cooking food for the ears in this case a sweet healthy sexy desert! Look for this track to be part of the Burgos EP (produced by me!) coming 2027 to a tasteful summer playlist in your dreamy future! #musicproduction #costarica #remixing #joseconde #frenchpop. I’m heading to New Orleans in 48 hours! I love a lot of things about Nola but the thing that keeps me coming back without a doubt is the spirit of the second line! The rhythm, the vibe the horns, the history. New Orleans has as much Yang as Yin … It’s a complicated place. But on any given Sunday when the second line rolls by, and you jump in and dance and crlebrate with instant family, all is forgotten in the sweat and euphoria. “I’m going down to New Orleans to second line” is not just the title and a line in my new song…. It is for real! I shot this footage and did this interview with Herman Joseph a.k.a. “the bottle man“ a couple of years back. He was very gracious and cool, and sly :) Got him a little sumptin sumptin cause ya know - he needed a bottle … which he emptied right quick ! That was a fine arrangement. He took me to the heart ❤️of the second line. It was a beautiful day in Treme! I’ll see y all soon! #nola #secondline #wwoz #parade #dancing by @josecondemusic

Isolation of sections is a necessary part of mixing… I always get remix ideas, especially for extremely rhythmic tracks such as this one. Can’t wait till I can share this info. Maybe now I’ll have to do a remix :-) too! SENTIR by @burgoscr Produced by me! i played Guitars bass synths and Keys and the amazing @carlomagnodrums is on Drums w Burgos on vocal. 2027 drop! by @josecondemusic

Layering hidden synths into acoustic band tracks is as old as the synthesizer. In this track at a key transitional point I used a software synth to create a sequence and and a hollow analog pad … these parts come in in this section and then disappear. They won’t be heard, but the impact will be felt! #production #costarica #musicproduction #mixtechnique #producer @alexco_ok @josecondemusic by @josecondemusic

Feel so alive is a track that I produced for London Exchange and Chris Phipps during the pandemic. I experimented with 808 samples, move synthesizer, backwards, guitar riffs, and I can’t forget the Org poly 800 to give it that series 80s vibe. The sparseness of this track and Chris’s vocal reminds me of the ocean. I had some B roll footage from another video. I just directed and just threw some random ideas in here and it makes for a surreal abstract pairing. Enjoy. by @josecondemusic

Got swept away in the grooves on my long NY City walk from Union Square Park to LES… Twas a beautiful and Fonky Sunday in the Apple! by @josecondemusic

Last night the ghosts of CBGBs NY were awakened by the sweet force of Argentinian rockera Chechi de Marcos and her super tight trio! @chechi______ la boto de el parque con su trio! A girl bass player in a posh dress is enough but then her songs are fun personal smart little windows into someone who is very much at play enjoying this ride! If Chechi is a sign of the Buenos Aires scene I think Argentina will be fine when Messi retires! Exito amiga! by @josecondemusic

Que lindo conocer a Julieta Venegas en @thelamc ! This Tijuana native Mexican songwriter has Long been one of my favorite crafters of contemporary Latin song. Her interview confirms what comes across in her songs… Honesty, intelligence, humor, pure love, and a certain quirky charisma.! it was great to hear about her unassuming journey from musical explorer in the northern border town to great success, in Mexico City , to author…Muchas Gracias Julieta que padre concerte! 🇲🇽🌸🌺🦋 #LAMC #latinpop #Latinalternativesong #cantaautorasmejicanas by @josecondemusic
