Family trip to the Oregon coast 🐶🩷🩷🩷 by @joseph.lattanzi

Today, on what would have been Van Cliburn's birthday, we honor the legacy of one of the most influential pianists of the 20th century. 🎹

At the 2026 Gilmore Piano Festival, we premiered American Sputnik, a new mini opera by composer @evan.mack.music and librettist Mark Campbell that tells the story of Cliburn's historic victory at the first International Tchaikovsky Competition during the height of the Cold War.

You can now watch the complete performance free, featuring @joseph.lattanzi, @stankhristenko, and the @kalamazoosymphony under the direction of @juliankuerti.

Things heat up when Hawkins (@joseph.lattanzi) pays a visit to Tim (@theandyacosta) in this scene from Fellow Travelers. After Hawk muses about taking him to far away places, they find their own paradise in Tim’s apartment.

Fellow Travelers is on stage now through March 1. Get tickets at the link in bio.

This new mini opera co-commissioned by The Gilmore and the @kalamazoosymphony follows American pianist Van Cliburn’s journey to Moscow and the victory that turned him into a cultural phenomenon. International Piano called it “a searching act of self-examination for the piano world writ large.”

“Let’s get outta here, Skippy.” Hawk (@joseph.lattanzi) and Tim (@theandyacosta) share a clandestine moment alone (or so they think), where Hawk convinces Tim to slip out of the Christmas party with him—but not before a run-in with Lucy (@elisasunshinesoprano).

Fellow Travelers is only on stage for four more performances. Get tickets while you can at the link in bio. by @joseph.lattanzi

"I believe in the power of a really good love story. And Fellow Travelers is, first and foremost, a really beautiful love story." —Director @kevinnewbury

Fellow Travelers is a queer story of love and conviction during the 1950s. When Tim and Hawkins meet on a park bench in DC, the two embark on a passionate romance under the watchful eye of the Lavender Scare.

See Fellow Travelers before it closes this Sunday, and get tickets at the link in bio.
