I met @haleyglass03 well over a decade ago. Even then her discipline, work ethic and eye for detail were unmatched. Being able to see her career in martial arts take her all over the world has been an incredible thing to witness. It was truly a full circle moment to go from doing zoom lessons with her all that time ago to having her come into my karate school and impart her knowledge onto my students. The goal of Empower Martial Arts was always to take the skills we learn on the mats and apply them to everything in our lives. Haley has truly embodied that idea. 11 years ago I won the first adult grands at Battle of the Badger State. Today I won in my last year in 18-34. More than that, @empowermartialartswi takes home 3 black belt grands. This was one of the best days of my martial arts career. @centurymartialarts NEWEST team on the circuit, TEAM RAPTOR! This professional team is comprised of some of the best competitors in the world. After ending the year strong, we will be meeting in 17 days for camp in Colorado and preparing for bigger things next year! #followthejourney

Last weekend Wisconsin took over Colorado. I test for my 6th degree black belt. This was a new experience for me testing out of state, away from my family and students. Not all of it was perfect, far from it. But it was a chance for growth and to challenge myself in ways I hadn't before. But as always I never embark on these type of things alone. Thank you to @kevinkowalczik and @revolutionma for hosting us and creating an awesome experience. Huge shout out to Jesus and Jared and their parents for shipping them half way across the country (and to @margaretrowell5 for having to put up with a all those teenagers in her house). Thank you to @jedicore1 and @tj_voelske for taking time away from their jobs and lives and wives to come out and support. And as always thank you to my beautiful wife @niknak_bb for always being my biggest support. For as long as I've known her @niknak_bb has done this funny thing with her birthday. Instead of just celebrating 1 day, she takes a whole month. For most people this may seem excessive but if you know her than you can probably agree that she deserves it. So here's to the happiest of birthdays to my best friend, partner in crime and most importantly my wife. 25 has never looked better on you 😉.

Man I'm so bad at this social media thing.... but here we go.

How do you really sum up what was possibly the best year of my life yet. The ups and down, the times I remember and the times that got a little fuzzy. But if there's one thing I'm taking away from this year is how lucky I am to have my circle that I can always count on. I wouldn't have made it through 2024 without them.
