Looking forward to welcoming some new folks into the studio next fall! Applications are open. Scholarships and TA positions available for tenor and bass trombone.

Whenever I’m asked how many spots are open, I say that there will always be room at the table for another hard working, talented, intellectually curious musician looking to be a part of fantastic community! by @joshbynum.trombone

So happy to FINALLY be able to get some new content up here and on my YouTube channel. Here’s a clip of the first mvt. from James David’s very cool sonata - Secure. Contain. Protect. Check out full performance on my channel (link in bio)

From a guest recital at the University of South Carolina back in Fall of 2022. With my dear friend and musical partner in crime - Anatoly Sheludyakov. Hope you enjoy! by @joshbynum.trombone

Finally, a political campaign I can get behind! Grabbed this gem for my office.
Only in Athens! ❤️ by @joshbynum.trombone

Weeks like this are what makes this job so special!

First, a wonderful and inspirational visit by Matt Vaughn is capped off by a solo recital this evening with the always awesome Greg Hankins. Listening to the sound check now and Matt’s playing is just so effortlessly beautiful and the music is always first.

Tomorrow, I get to share the stage with my wonderful colleagues in the Georgia Brass Quintet for our campus recital, featuring music by prominent American composers. Spending time rehearsing and laughing with Phil, Brandon, James, and Matt is a highlight of my week. ❤️

Finally, on Wednesday…I get to show off my incredible students for our campus trombone choir performance. Not only as the ensemble, but as soloist, conductor, and composer.

As I always say…I feel very blessed to be here at UGA doing what I do. Go dawgs! by @joshbynum.trombone

Very happy to have the opportunity to play some great music a few times over the next month! Always fun to get out on the road!

Merry Christmas everyone. It’s been a hard month since Dad’s passing…but we find smiles and peace where we can.

This little guy helps a lot. ❤️ by @joshbynum.trombone

It’s been 2 years since we had to say goodbye to our boy Baxter. I miss him every day, but am also just so grateful for our time with him. He was my goofy little best friend.

Our new kid Dunkin is so funny and quirky…and does so many things that reminds me of his big brother. He had been abused and returned…and it was time that someone gave him a good home. We are so lucky to have him.

I’ve heard it said that Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love, they depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog, it merely expands the heart.

I love my 2 kids. 😊❤️ by @joshbynum.trombone

First rehearsal for a faculty jazz gig — playing the entire Birth of the Cool. It’s always fun to play my 3B Silver Sonic. 🤩❤️🤩 by @joshbynum.trombone

Wishing for a world where every Bordogni vocalise was as nice as No. 23? Look no further than Phil Snedecor’s Lyrical Etudes. Mournful minor melodies for days! 😊 by @joshbynum.trombone

Congratulations to a very special group! I’m going to miss them but also celebrate as they go out and make their mark. Very proud teacher here. Go dawgs! ❤️ by @joshbynum.trombone
