Progress so far on the Kyan Wrath mule + its current engine, the Kyan DI-10 “Dies Irae” V10. The last few days have been challenging. This project is getting progressively more complex, and so even a small inaccuracy has the tendency to cascade into this giant mess down the line. But my goodness is it rewarding! Of course though, I’m going to need to assemble a team of talented people to help me bring to life physically. I think I will pursue that search later this year more formally. I’m just so excited. I’ll continue sharing my progress with you all! This might be ambitious but my dream is to build and drive this hypercar before I’m 30 (I’m 25 now). Fingers crossed hahah! by @joshuaaalampour

Today is the 9 year anniversary of the start of my musical journey. My first (and last) piano lesson ended with the teacher kicking me out for not being able to sight read. I wanted to prove her wrong, so I practiced for an average of 6 hours a day using MIDI videos I found on the internet. However about 2 weeks into this, I accidentally composed something. I fell in love. It felt like I had made a new lifelong friend. I didn’t care about proving that teacher wrong anymore. I became obsessed with creating art.

So much has happened since. Thank you to everyone who gave my art a chance. You have made my dreams come true.

Update: slide 9 shouldn’t say “~9 months later”, it should be “~15 months later” as I posted my first video on 2/19/2021 and graduated late May 2022. There used to be 13 slides but I cut it down to 12 and forgot to change the header.

4 years ago I was a student at UC Berkeley struggling to pay my $800/month rent. I wanted to study physics but coming out of the countless evictions + homelessness in my teenage years ruined my parents’ credit, so I got denied student loans.

I was able to get a full tuition scholarship, but it only covered 2 years’ worth. So I doubled up my course load to graduate 2 years early, and tutored physics + music theory for 12 hours a day on the weekends to make ends meet.

I used to buy Costco frozen pizzas in bulk because they were cheaper that way ($3.77 usd a pie with tax), and live off one a day for months. When I wanted to treat myself, I’d have ritz crackers with a coke. I put all my money into an imac computer. I slept on an air mattress. My desk and chair I found on the street.

I had this undying belief in myself. I always thought I was the shit, even when I didn’t have the proof to back it up. I was working nonstop with no safety net, and it paid off. 2 years into my career (when I was 21), I had become a millionaire.

I manifested my current life for so long. Never give up on your dreams because I promise it feels so good to have made it. by @joshuaaalampour

I composed this when i was 17, about 1 year into self studying music. This is an excerpt from the exposition of the 1st movement. It was one of my very first attempts at writing in sonata form.

Raindrop Waltz No. 1 in B Minor - Joshua Kyan Aalampour

The full piece is available on my Spotify. I composed this as a teenager and dedicated it to the rain.

I composed this waltz. I hope you like it.

For those who are new, this is the Dies Irae V10 by @kyanmotors. It’s an F1-inspired, 3.0-liter naturally aspirated V10 that I have been designing and engineering in CAD for the past several months, targeting 19,000 rpm. Inside are 10 titanium connecting rods, each 108 mm center to center and about 190 g with its cap.

The worst compressive load each rod sees is about 72 kN, around 12,000 rpm under combustion. The tensile load is the real problem, because inertia grows with the square of engine speed. At 19,000 rpm, the reciprocating mass alone pulls each big end with 57 kN, nearly 6 metric tons, at the top of every exhaust stroke, with no combustion pressure there to cushion it. That is what sizes the beam, the big end, and the rod bolts.

Everything here (from the CAD to the cinematic shots) was done by me (no AI). I’m planning to build the physical prototype of the Kyan Wrath hypercar early next year. by @joshuaaalampour
