📖
I’m very excited to announce that my new book ‘Centurion’ is hitting the Amazon shelf on 23rd November. It will be available in paperback on that date but can also be pre-ordered for Kindle now (link in bio).

It’s a novella and is my first work of fiction. I can’t wait for the full story to be revealed, but for now, here’s the overview…

Ninety-nine survival stories.
One broken code.
A life changed forever.

Henry Langford was once a rising star – a fighter with talent, hunger, and a future. Now he’s a journeyman; the man paid to lose, to survive, to make other boxers look good.

Ninety-nine fights in, with a mortgage to pay and a family to protect, Henry has mastered the art of staying safe in a dangerous world. But the hundredth fight changes everything.

Offered a rare payday at the iconic York Hall, Henry promises his wife Ellie it will be his last. A simple six-rounder. Another night of going through the motions. Yet under the lights, something inside him snaps – a spark of the fighter he used to be, the fighter he buried after the crash that nearly killed him.

When Henry breaks the unwritten code of the journeyman, the consequences are devastating.

Centurion is a raw, gripping tale of pride, sacrifice, and the brutal cost of chasing the man you once were.

This is a cracking biography about a true legend of the sport. And Foreman did it in an era where becoming heavyweight champion of the world was no mean feat. He retired to become a minister following a successful ring career and was one of the few in his era who escaped with his faculties intact. He managed a superb comeback to become the oldest heavyweight champion of all time at 45 years old when he knocked out Michael Moorer, and somehow boxing wasn’t what set him up financially forever, it was his endorsement of the George Foreman ‘Lean Mean Fat Grilling Machine’. The detail in Andrew Smith’s book is second to none, I highly recommend this for both die-hards and casuals.
