For all the new faces on here, I'd love to introduce myself 👋 I am Megan Joyce, LAC FABORM and I'm an expert in functional medicine and fertility. Guided by a holistic well-being approach and rooted in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I offer fully virtual programs customized to each patient's unique needs.

Drawing from my background in Psychology and my passion for holistic medicine, I believe that the most powerful form of healing is achieved by addressing the person on every level - mind, body, and spirit. I received my BA in Psychology from UCSB and am a published co-author of scientific research in the field of Social Psychology and Bio-Psychology. Graduating summa cum laude from Emperor’s College of Oriental Medicine, I pursued advanced training in Gynecology and Internal Medicine at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China.

I take pride in being a fellow of the American Board of Acupuncture and Reproductive Medicine, having assisted hundreds of individuals and couples in their journey to expand their families. My deep involvement in the Orange County birth community has connected me with doulas, midwives, and OBGyns, allowing me to provide integrative prenatal and postpartum care. My dedication to enhancing my expertise led me to complete training through the Kalish Institute of Functional Medicine, and I am currently immersed in my second year of Advanced Clinical Training in Functional Medicine.

My personal journey led me to naturally overcome my own infertility due to PCOS, a triumph that brought two children into my life and remains my pride and joy. Outside of my professional pursuits, I cherish moments spent in nature with my family and nurture a passion for travel, always seeking to experience diverse cultures. In 2009, I co-founded the One World Health Project and have also volunteered my medical expertise through Alliance Abroad and Floating Doctors.

Get in touch! I am accepting new patients 🌸 by @joycewellness_

In addition to my telemedicine appointments for functional medicine and fertility, I am now available for in-person acupuncture and herbal medicine sessions on Monday afternoons and Wednesdays 10am-4pm in San Clemente at @radicalwellness_co! This nourishing space has ocean views and you can smell the salty air 🌊 ☀️

I will only be seeing one patient per hour to give my full attention to my clients. This also gives me the ability to add more extras like acupressure, ear seeds, gua sha and cupping for no extra charge.

Send me a DM or an email to book a session 🌸 I can't wait to see you in person! by @joycewellness_

Have you ever noticed yourself waking up at the same time each night? It may not be just a coincidence. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), our bodies follow an internal "body clock" that governs our organ systems throughout the day and night. This ancient wisdom sheds light on why disrupted sleep often occurs at specific times.

Human beings have an intrinsic and powerful connection to natural sunlight. For thousands of years, our bodies evolved to function in sync with the rise and fall of the sun ☀️ In fact, many of our hormonal processes are orchestrated by light and its absence. But in today’s world, where electricity and screens allow us to stay awake long after sunset, our sleep cycles are often disrupted, causing a cascade of effects on our health.

According to the Chinese Body Clock, each organ system is most active during a specific 2-hour window within a 24-hour period. When we wake up at certain times consistently, it could indicate an imbalance or stress in the corresponding organ system. For example:

1 AM – 3 AM (Liver Time): Waking up during this window may point to stress or emotional tension since the liver is responsible for detoxification and emotional processing.
3 AM – 5 AM (Lung Time): This time is linked to the lungs, and waking up could indicate grief, sadness, or difficulty with breathing.
5 AM – 7 AM (Large Intestine Time): If you wake up around this time, it may suggest digestive issues or a need to release and "let go."

If you find yourself waking at the same time each night, it might be a sign your internal clock is out of sync. Acupuncture works by aligning your body’s energy flow with the natural rhythms outlined in the Chinese Body Clock, helping to rebalance the organ systems responsible for restful sleep. If you live near San Clemente, California, send me a DM to book an hour-long acupuncture session in my space @radicalwellness_co 🌸 by @joycewellness_

It's been a few months, but I wanted to share that I have moved my Acupuncture practice on Mondays and Wednesdays to the Acupuncture Healing and Wellness Center. Please DM me to book some much needed rest and recovery. A new website will be launching soon too! by @joycewellness_

One of the favorite parts of my job is uncovering hidden obstacles to fertility. I am 💯 in support for evidenced based medicine. And… I think that sometimes we’re not asking all the necessary questions… ESPECIALLY in women’s health, and therefore do not have all the data to make the best recommendation for each patient. This case study illustrates how standard ACOG recommendations could have left an important data point uncovered and untreated. In honor of Infertility Awareness Week I honor the strength and resilience of all you warriors. #infertilityawareness #infertilitysupport #infertilitysupport #women’s health #unexplainedinfertility by @joycewellness_

No this is not the real Santa, but yes this is the embodiment of real magic. She may not even know it, but @maggiegyogi has walked me through some of the hardest moments of this last year with her wisdom and leadership through movement. I’m so grateful to her and the whole amazing team at @iheartyoga_org . by @joycewellness_

Winter is the season of the Kidneys in both Functional Medicine and Chinese Medicine ❄️ They are considered the root of our vitality and play a role in hormone balance, fertility, menstrual health, adrenal function, sleep, and long-term resilience.

When Kidney energy is strong, we feel steady and supported. When it’s depleted, we may notice fatigue, stress, hormonal shifts, or a general feeling of being run down.

This time of year naturally asks us to slow down... Shorter days signal the body to conserve energy, rebuild reserves, and focus on deeper repair. Winter is meant for warmth, rest, and simple routines that help us recharge from the inside out.

🍴 Eat warm, cooked foods like soups, stews, broths, root vegetables, and ginger tea
💤 Prioritize rest and earlier bedtimes to support hormones and adrenal health
🔥 Keep the low back warm to protect Kidney energy
🧘‍♀️ Choose gentler movement such as walking, yoga, or Pilates
🛀 Warm baths (add some candles and a book ✨ ) to create moments of quiet to calm the nervous system
🌸 Consider acupuncture and herbal medicine for deeper seasonal and hormonal support by @joycewellness_

Herbal medicine has been used for generations to support women through every season of life, from preparing the body for pregnancy, to easing changes during pregnancy, to restoring balance postpartum.🪴

What makes herbs so special is their ability to work with the body, not against it. Unlike pharmaceuticals that isolate one active ingredient, herbal medicine uses the whole plant, keeping its natural harmony intact. This often means fewer side effects and a gentler, more balanced response.

Herbs can help:
- regulate cycles and support fertility
- reduce stress and calm the nervous system
- ease symptoms of PCOS, endometriosis, and hormonal shifts
- boost energy and deepen sleep
- nourish and replenish the body during pregnancy and after birth

In my practice, I use a blend of patented herbal pills and fully customized formulas based on each woman’s unique needs. Every herb is sourced with care and third-party tested for safety, purity, and effectiveness.

If you’re exploring support for hormones, fertility, pregnancy, or postpartum care, feel free to send me a message to get on my waitlist for acupuncture, Functional Medicine or Fertility programs. I’m here to help you feel supported and balanced through every step 🌸 by @joycewellness_
