JULES DENEL - THE STANDOUT OF DAY 1 IN WISSANT!

What a way to kick things off for Jules Denel on his home waters. At 36 and 18 years after making his competition debut, Jules is absolutely ripping, and yesterday he showed just how much he can squeeze out of Wissant even when the conditions are far from easy.

With the wind and waves barely playing ball, Jules managed to find something where there wasn’t much on offer, posting a massive 18.62 heat total, the highest score of the day.

The real highlight was his unanimous 9.00 wave. He started it with a taka, went straight into a series of powerful turns, then threw a proper taka off the lip, fins out, before somehow finding enough in the whitewater to finish with another taka. Three takas on one wave, mixed in with some proper surfing, in conditions where every little section had to be earned. Jules definitely knew how to make the most of what was out there.

And he’s looking seriously comfortable on his new Goya gear too. Fully tuned in already and looking like he’s been riding it forever.

That’s what makes Jules such a dangerous guy to have in your heat. His surfing is powerful, aggressive and progressive, but he’s also got a serious jumping game when Wissant switches on. Whether we end up counting two waves and one jump or two waves and two jumps, he’s got everything he needs to make life very difficult for whoever comes up against him.

If this is how he’s starting the event, we’re pretty excited to see what else Jules has got for us.

Jules Denel was one of the very first top riders to have the opportunity to experience the unbelievable performance of our Sultan Dreams Collection fins during his stay in South Africa this winter.

He experienced firsthand what an Asymmetrical Surf Pro design can do for a board, combined with our Sultan THR back fin. From that moment on, there was no turning back to what he had before! 🔥

I personally visited Jules in June at his home spot in Wissant, and together we pushed the limits of these fins even further, developing a special setup tailored specifically to his style and his home spot.

In Tenerife, he showed everyone what confidence, commitment, and the right equipment can bring to the water. 🤙🔥

We wish Jules the very best of luck for his home event in Wissant and for all the competitions ahead!

Watch out 👀 He’s hot, he’s on fire! 🔥🔥🔥

Allez Jules! 🇫🇷🤙 by @jules_denel
