🎃👻 Halloween Fun at the Studios! 👻🎃

Halloween is always one of our favourite times of the year at the studios, and I think we all look forward to the games just as much as the dancing!

Everyone joins in, and the laughter is just priceless!

There’s something so lovely about seeing everyone having fun together, getting a little competitive and just enjoying themselves.

It’s these moments that make our studios such a special place. So many laughs, happy faces and wonderful memories.

We really do have the best fun together! 🎃 by @julie.young.dance.studio

🩰✨ What better way to celebrate World Ballet Day last Thursday, than with a visit to Perth Theatre to enjoy, Before, a beautiful exhibition of paintings by the incredibly talented Amanda Beveridge!

Many of you will remember Amanda from her previous life as a wonderful actress, singer, dancer, — and, of course, our very own drama teacher!

Having seen a beautiful photograph of Lila dancing on stage, Amanda asked if she could capture the moment in a painting.

Well, what can I say but WOW! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

There is something particularly special about seeing the worlds of dance and art come together in this way, especially through the work of someone who has such a wonderful connection with our dance school.

If you haven’t already been, please do pop along to Perth Theatre to see Amanda’s wonderful exhibition.
I really can’t recommend it highly enough! 🎨

And a very special mention to our nine Junior Ballet nominees who were experiencing their very first scholarship weekend. ❤️

For some of our younger dancers, this was a completely new experience, being nominated, walking into the scholarship, seeing all the other dancers and performing in front of the judges.

I know there were nerves, excitement and probably a few butterflies, but you all handled yourselves so beautifully. You should be incredibly proud of yourselves.
This is only the beginning for you, and I hope you realise what a fantastic achievement it was simply to be nominated and to have the courage to get up there and perform.

✨ A truly special full-circle moment ✨

Two stars of The Royal Ballet, Harris Bell and Sae Maeda, gave masterclasses earlier this month, as part of Ballet Nights’ presentation in Glasgow.

It was not only an honour for our young dancers to be taught by such incredible artists, but it was particularly special for me as a teacher to see Bertie taking part in a class led by Harris and Sae.

What made the occasion even more meaningful was that Harris himself was once a student here at the Julie Young Dance Studios. To see a former pupil return to Scotland, now an established dancer of The Royal Ballet, inspiring the next generation of dancers, was incredibly special.

Then, to watch Harris perform on stage at the beautiful Theatre Royal, Glasgow, alongside his beautiful and talented wife, Sae, as part of Ballet Nights… well, that was a very proud moment indeed. ❤️

Harris, alongside his brother and sister, Rory and Cara were all part of our Studio family for many years, and somehow it feels like only yesterday that they were all here, taking class, laughing and growing up together.
Moments like these really do make you stop and reflect on the passing of time and remind you just how precious those years spent watching our young dancers grow can be.

As teachers, we spend so much time with our students during such an important part of their lives, and then suddenly they are grown up and making their own way in the world.

Those relationships and memories stay with you forever. We may be the ones teaching the steps, but our students leave their mark on us too.

We are also so proud to see another former student, Aiden O’Brien, now forging his own path with The Royal Ballet.

To see two former students reaching such wonderful heights in their own individual journeys is incredibly special. Both journeys began many years ago with a love of dance here at our studios.

Seeing them, all these years later, reminds me just how lucky I have been to have had a small part in their journey. ❤️🩰
