Creating the back piece for the spider was not only figuring out how to make it look cool but figuring out the mechanics of how the legs could click into place through her shirt securely. I came up with the idea to use push and twist pill bottle caps since they only require a 25 degree turn to lock in and out of place. The legs themselves were made out of aluminum wire wrapped in foam tubing and varying sized pool noodles I carved down and reshaped with foam clay. They were then coated with layers of black rubber coating, painted with acrylic paint and gloss coated. The final touch was adding hair to the legs to give them a more realistic look. I used nylon fishing wire I cut, chiseled, glued and inserted one by one covering the length of the legs. by @julietg_art

So excited to finally post my senior costuming capstone! I designed for the film James and the Giant Peach (1996) script and chose to fabricate a costume for Ms. Spider. The shirt, back piece, and prosthetics all made from scratch by myself. I’ll be posting process work soon! Image #3 digitally rendered to show costume with all the elements from my design illustration. Thank you to my fabulous photographer and model 📷: @g.404.1 Model: @elyse.jenayyy by @julietg_art
Dog sculpt for @moticos_capstone26 made with a tinfoil base, sculpted up with air dry clay, a plastic cast head and distressed canvas dressing. by @julietg_art
Pretty sick alligator I made with @zombieswillneverhurtyou last quarter for @soulsofsavannahshow at @kronosmediaproductions • We made a silicone and plaster cast of a resin gator sculpt which was then casted with dragon skin fx pro silicone, gauze, and a layer of flex foam to allow for flexibility. Painted with psycho paints Shoutout to @crchappell_art and @code_blue_007 for the extra hands by @julietg_art
Made this taco puppet commission a while back! I used upholstery foam for the base using patterning techniques and a wire mechanism through ping pong balls to create blinking eyes. by @julietg_art
Animating my stop motion puppet who gets his foot stuck on something sticky. Set made with a hand painted backdrop, cardboard trees, and paper plant sprigs. To prepare for animating, I storyboarded his actions and made a cardboard mock up to see how he would move through the set! by @julietg_art
This was truly such a crazy labor of love from last quarter and probably my favorite project so far. I sculpted this little guy from chavant clay, made a plaster mold, created a wire armature and injected silicone into the mold to create his flexible body. The head was cut into pieces to be molded in silicone, casted in plastic and then reassembled and tweaked to make 3 separate facial expressions that can be popped on and off. Finished off with his custom little shorts. by @julietg_art
Fake sickle made for @enemywithin.film I started with a cheap plastic one that I sanded down, repainted, aged, and gave a leather wrap by @julietg_art
For the set of Lo Que Dejamos Atrás last quarter, the director wanted our actor to look older and more fragile. Using liquid latex, alcohol based paints, and hair coloring, we added plenty of sun spots and wrinkles to his face, neck, and hands. Makeup assistant: @rjs_death by @julietg_art
