The title says it all, and I’ve already written enough for this to be its own mini blog post.

But truly, the warm welcome into the writing community has been huge to me. I’m eternally grateful to my alpha readers and to @iama.c.young for showing me what’s possible.

I look forward to bringing you into the fold, and sharing the world I’ve created 🌞

Which is your favorite?

Color plays a huge role in Project Aster. Aster himself is an artist (scribe) and everything he experiences relates to his art background.

It’s been really fun to explore his worldview because I’m also an artist, and getting to share my love for learning about new pigments, art methods, and how I see the world is a joy for me.

Inspired by @cg.commercon ‘s lovely post!

I know as milestones go, 150 may not seem like a lot, but every one of you means the world to me! I hope to bring you a damn good fantasy with the right balance of magic and mayhem to good ole’ fashioned romance 💛 But seriously, it makes my heart swell to know that so many people in this reading and writing community are watching! So thank you again for your support.

These are the 3 big tools I’m using to draft my book. Have you tried any of these?

I learned so much from McKay and Gray, a Youtube channel that teaches comic-making, and especially script writing/plotting. I also read several blogs that helped me understand novel writing, and I won’t lie, I also watched Brando Sando’s Youtube lecture collection. There are also tons of great writing-advice books and while I have not finished Save the Cat!, there are tons of breakdowns both on their dedicated website and on Youtube.

Understanding how to plot can help you create a structure, without necessarily dimming your creativity. I know from past experience that if I didn’t plan my novel out, it never would’ve made it to 50k words. I also think as much as I am a plotter, I’m also a plantser, taking guidance from my outline without feeling enclosed by it. What type of writer are you?

Very cool that when I edited the 15 beats, in deleting an extra space, I aparently also deleted the number altogether 😭 by @juniperkade.writes

Tag yourself, I’m in need of a cup ramen stat!

And to be honest I could probably use a little bit of everything here 🙈

Would you read a book with these aesthetics? In my story there are tons of funny juxtapositions. An Georgian~Regency era vibe but with working automatons, magic that takes forms from illuminated mirages to powered-up magical swords, and two cultures clashing and coming together.

I love how everyone’s been mashing up different vibes to represent their books, so I wanted to give it a try myself! This was inspired by lots of posts, but notably by @aykaywrites and @tammobrien

Btw the cover image is just a placeholder 😇

Don’t get me wrong, I really wanted to write while I was traveling, but the I just couldn’t get into the headspace. So instead I filled my head with new stories.

I’ll admit, reading while drafting sometimes makes me doubt everything, but sometimes it’s so inspiring!

So what book(s) are you reading? And do you even read while writing?

Project Aster on a sliding scale. I love seeing sliding scales because it’s so easy to get an idea of the story without spoiling the plot!

I was inspired by @writewithgemma , @mashrenatyev and @_lara_clette’s posts, and wanted to make my own. I love the creativity of everyone in the writer space.

I’m still writing this project, so even though I’m 50k words in, these things could still change. This is my wishlist for how it’s going to turn out in the end, but if you like these things:

✍️ Illuminated manuscripts
🤖 Automatons
🦾 Capable female characters
💍 Arranged marriage
⭐️ Intelligent protagonist
👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨 MM Romance
👑 Court intrigue
🪄 Unique magic system

Then stick around!

It is a bit of a mood boost to see your work go from 90 to 200 pages in the blink of an eye though! Does anyone else do this? Sometimes I just check to see what my actual page count would be for fun 🤓

My #FridaySpark entry for this week! “Lock” is the word. The Author Visibility quest might be over, but I’ll still be sharing my writing journey. (FridaySpark by @maraheathauthor !)

This week I wrote less than I wanted to, but sometimes that happens. While I might be less active now that I’m back to work, I’ll still tune in to see how the writing community is doing. It’s been so fun to be a part of it so far and I can’t wait to meet more writers and readers!
