Dreaming of spring…and inviting you to my show of contemporary #mixedmedia #botanicalinspired #natureinspiredart in the Jamie Gagarin Gallery at @oliverwolcottlibrary .

The show is up now through April 9. by @justineickesart

Yay! “On the Wild Side”, my show of #botanicalartwork is up at the @oliverwolcottlibrary March 3 through April 9.

If you’re local to #litchfieldct or happen to be in this neck of the woods, I’ll hope you’ll join me at the opening reception on Thursday, March 5, 5-7 pm.

Thank you to the library’s art committee for inviting me to show my work. And to a dear friend who helped me install the show. It takes a village and also someone who’s handy with a measuring tape and a hammer. ;-)

P.S. Hooray for @kraftedbrewlab coffee = caffeine for the art install win. by @justineickesart

I still love my country.

I’ve been making a lot of art these days…balancing art-making, activism and advocacy…and what you may not know is that I don’t really plan too much when I create my art. Rather, I just start and then let the materials tell me what they want to express.

So while I wasn’t intending to, it seems natural that my Valentine’s hearts channeled a little patriotic vibe by way of the colors and patterns…

So what does this art want us to know?

❣️That we can love the U.S. even with its many flaws.
❣️That we can make change happen.
❣️That we ARE making change happen.
❣️That we can work together to make our country one we can be proud of - a place where we show empathy, caring and kindness for all living beings.

Let’s keep going. by @justineickesart

How does travel inspire my art? Can’t you tell? ;-) Here’s a glimpse of my new notecard collection, inspired by my recent visit to Turkey.

My creative process always starts by immersing myself in the sights and sounds of the local scene, in this case the mountains and seaside villages along the Black Sea and the vibrant, endlessly fascinating city of Istanbul.

I never know how my travel adventures will show up in my art but they always do. ;-)

Want your own piece of #botanicalartwork and beauty? I have a selection of notecards for you to choose from in my online shop. They make great gifts and right now I’m offering free shipping to U.S. addresses. by @justineickesart
