It’s beautiful to see 23k+ (and counting) people like my simple comment on @mykailua’s viral rat post

If only everyone in agreement was Vegan (a.k.a. rejected animal exploitation and speciesism)

I’m going to be optimistic and believe the vast majority are just in the pre-Vegan stage 😃 by @justinmanningv

This past weekend I ventured out to @spentgrounds to scoop up some cinnamon buns but they were sold out

Good thing @vegout_yvr was there to save the day and help me feel like it wasn’t a wasted trip

Pictured here is their Blazin’ Buffalo:

Original chick’n tossed in their signature house made coating and fried to a perfect crunch. Dipped in buffalo hot sauce topped with creamy ranch. (extra pickles snuck in their too) by @justinmanningv

Picture No. 1 — I’m a pig now so maybe you want to pay someone to slit my throat so you can eat me

Where this gets really difficult in practice is when you feel someone has exercised hatred, exploitation, violence against other beings or the environment.

It’s so easy to try and fight hate with hate but the truth is, love wins.

Easier said than done given the amount of what seems to be nothing more than evil in this world.

I’m guilty of this as much as the next person and so this is a friendly reminder to myself as much as anyone else.

People do need to be held accountable for their actions, but I’m convinced living in hatred is counterproductive.

What do you think? by @justinmanningv

Do you like watching scary movies around Halloween?

Here are two I bet you won’t be able to make it through:

🎥 Earthlings
🎥 Dominion

Watch both for free on YouTube if you dare 😱 🎃

Search ‘watch earthlings documentary’ and “watch dominion documentary’ by @justinmanningv

Someone sent me this private message and gave me permission to share it.

Their employer is not a group benefits client of mine. They simply reached out after seeing my recent post about cancer, heart attack, and stroke insurance.

We’ve talked about their diagnosis, treatment, and employer critical illness coverage.

They thought they would be covered. In the end, they learned otherwise.

As they said…

Don’t assume you’re invincible. Consider private critical illness coverage well before you think you’ll need it.

And since we’re talking about people navigating breast cancer…

Much love to @miyokoschinner, who recently shared her road to recovery.

Critical illness coverage is easiest to arrange when you’re healthy. It’s worth looking at before a diagnosis changes your options. by @justinmanningv

Classic homemade breakfast anyone?

My wife isn’t normally around for slow and easy weekend breakfasts

So when she asked for this I had to whip it up

@fraserlandfarms oven roasted potatoes
@justfoodcompany omelette
@portofinobakery x @becelca garlic bread
@organicgirl sautéed spinach
@secrestorganic sautéed tomatoes by @justinmanningv

Have you heard of cancer, heart attack, and stroke insurance?

At least, that’s what critical illness insurance should probably be called, because roughly 80–85% of critical illness claims are related to these three conditions.

Cancer is by far the most common claim, followed by heart attack and stroke.

🔹 About 2 in 5 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime

🔹 9 in 10 Canadians have at least one risk factor for heart disease or stroke

🔹 1 in 4 Canadians living with stroke are under the age of 65

Here’s the part many people miss: surviving is now the more likely outcome.

Medical advances mean many people recover from cancer, heart attack, and stroke—but recovery can take months or even years.

During that time, income may stop or drop, while mortgage payments, household bills, medications, treatment costs, childcare, and everyday living expenses continue.

Critical illness insurance provides a tax-free lump sum at a time when you may need it most.

Helping protect your income, savings, and family’s lifestyle while you focus on recovery.

Because the goal isn’t just surviving a critical illness.
It’s being able to afford the recovery.

Shoutout to @dennishorseradish for the care package (thank you)

Fried oyster mushrooms and that seafood sauce are definitely happening. In my world, fish are sealife—algae is seafood.

This company was taken over about six years ago, and back then, 3/4 of its products contained cow’s milk. The seafood sauce was always plant-based.

Now only the original horseradish still has cow’s milk. Fingers crossed the whole lineup goes fully plant-based soon 🙌 by @justinmanningv

Receiving this LinkedIn DM felt just as good, if not better, than one of my usual 5-star Friday Google reviews.

All Vegans are plant-based, but not everyone who is plant-based is Vegan.

Some may not think that distinction matters, but it does.

When the two are conflated, it can lead to confusion and misrepresentation.

Not sure what I mean?

All questions are welcome. by @justinmanningv

Homemade banana carrot walnut muffins with cream cheese frosting, anyone?

I made these for @venechukfarms after their Ugly Potato Day this past weekend, where they gave away free bananas, carrots, and many other items to the community.

Using some of their produce in a recipe felt like a small but meaningful way to say thank you. by @justinmanningv
