#ad My office has been a bus, coffee shops, campsites, airports, and probably a few places I had no business trying to get work done lol. The @logitech Flip Folio has been nice because I can pull the keyboard off when I don’t need it, throw it back on when I do, and keep my setup light enough to actually bring with me.

And yes, I did end up eating it in front of the whole group when I slipped in the mud trying to step over a root

| AD | Recently I was lucky enough to work with @djiglobal on the launch of the Osmo Pocket 4P. I went around Mexico exploring the cenotes and jungle, with the Pocket 4P being my only vlog camera for the trip. Since it’s small enough to keep it on me all day without my heavy camera bag, I found myself shooting a lot more than I would’ve with my mirrorless setup

The zoom has been one of my favorite features for getting tighter shots without having to get right up to something (the compression is also a huge bonus), and the slow motion is perfect for shots with a lot of action.

With how much I travel, it’s been a game changer to have an entire setup (camera, fill light, gimbal, mic, etc) in a package small enough to fit into my pocket.

What feature would you use the most?

I’ve spent most of this year abroad living out of a backpack, and it’s definitely changed my mind about what to pack. |AD|

My whole goal with these trips is to have as many random, out-of-the-box experiences as possible, so I really like being able to just throw my bag on my back and go. It’s a lot easier to thumb a ride, hop in a tuk-tuk, or take off somewhere random when you don’t have a giant 48lb checked bag with you.

Because of that, I’ve gotten pretty particular about what actually makes it into my toiletry bag. If I’m not going to use it daily, it stays home. I also try to have everything use the same charging cable so I’m not carrying around a bag full of random cords.

Luckily, I came across the Laifen P3 shaver. It’s way smaller than the shaver I was carrying before, so it takes up barely any room in my bag, and the USB-C charging means I don’t need to bring another single-purpose cable with me.

I actually learned this lesson the hard way in Peru when I left my old shaver’s charging cord at home thinking the battery would last the whole trip... it didn’t lol. I had to show up to a sponsored event on my way home looking like the guy from Cast Away.

A quiet afternoon in the bus. |AD|

I took the new DJI Osmo Pocket 4 with me to spend some time in the bus while I was home visiting family. I have no idea how it was able to turn Indiana into a such a cinematic video. Seeing my home from the lens of the Pocket 4 made me appreciate the natural beauty of the Midwest in a way I haven’t since I was a kid. The insane greenery, the constant birds chirping, and just the fact that everything is so alive is the real charm of the Midwest.

I was particularly impressed with how the Active Track 7.0 was able to reliably follow my bus, even as I drove through trees and over a pretty large area. On top of that the 14 stops of dynamic range meant I could really play with the shadows and light peeking through the trees in a way that many cameras can’t.

What do you guys think of the Osmo Pocket 4?

- My first tattoo was done in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, in the place that’s usually considered the birthplace of tattooing. It was done completely traditionally, from the sharpened boar tusk to the freehanded design. It took about four and a half hours with no breaks, and I didn’t even get to choose what it would be. I just had to trust the artist to make something cool, and he absolutely did :)

- swam in the Ecuadorian Amazon. I was honestly pretty nervous because I’d already seen 17-foot black caiman, anacondas, arapaima, and piranhas in that same part of the river. Five minutes before I got in, a couple of pink river dolphins swam by, which somehow made me feel a little better.

- I crossed from Chile to Argentina through the Candelario Mancilla route. It started with a five-hour ferry across a glacial lake, then a full day trying to get my bikepacking setup 17 km down a single-track hiking trail that connects the two countries. There were only a handful of border agents out there, and they rotated through months-long shifts before going back to civilization. My bike broke halfway through, so I spent the next couple of hours running beside it just to make the last ferry and avoid getting stranded for the weekend.

- I climbed Acatenango and then Fuego in Guatemala so I could stand next to an erupting volcano. I also had my first asthma attack in years at 13,000 feet. Turns out that’s a terrible place to realize you forgot your inhaler.

- I was traveling solo through Nepal when I met a group of local guys around my age. We ended up hanging out for a few days, and they’re still some of my favorite people I’ve met while traveling. Walking back to my hostel alone through Kathmandu at 2 a.m. was definitely an interesting experience though.

The bus. A friend and I originally bought it to drive from Phoenix to Alaska, but the engine blew up in Oregon. We got it fixed, made it about 20 miles, and it blew up again. After another repair it blew up for a third time in Northern California and left me stranded on a beach...

…last year I finally decided to LS swap it, which some by @kadenmsmith

In the next couple of days I’m going to be ripping EVERYTHING out of the bus and starting over. While it’s been great having the whole vintage vibe, your boy needs insulation and a real mattress hahaha
