got bored & transformed🥀🦇<3 by @kaelahsabree

last week was a whirlwind🌪️✨🦋 producers encouraged me to reach for higher notes (i fell into my siren bag🧜🏽‍♀️🤭), i got to test my collaboration skills by working with fellow artists- writing, making melodies, coaching talented vocalists & blew my protective bubble into a new reality🫧 a week of writing camp changed my mind in so many unexpected ways 🌈

to tell the truth, it wasn’t a perfect visit. thru 6 days of working, sleep deprivation (bc i wanted to be a part of every session w everybody😭) & more caffeine than food, i encountered a gnarly mental episode🥲

i was out of my comfort zone, around new ppl & triggered by old habits & unsavory behavior that i’ve outgrown. some people caught wind of a version of myself that i don’t like seeing & wish no one ever saw. i exhausted my limits & was ultimately uncomfy overall.

eventually, i reached my capacity. i was so exhausted & sensitive to my overstimulating surroundings. i stood my ground & said i needed rest. with the expectation to keep working, i ultimately felt unappreciated after contributing to about 15 records. my break was ultimately my breaking point.

i was reminded that i need to take time to rest when my body tells me to. the people will be there. the music will be made. i was surprised at how easily i was able to set my boundaries, with strangers who were technically in charge.

although my representation wasn’t as professional as i’d hoped, there’s no way i could’ve predicted the breakdown & paranoia that ensued. convinced i was in danger (i wasn’t), i decided to leave camp early, in the middle of the night🙂 no goodbyes. i did the best that i could & have walked away with a better understanding & appreciation of myself. i know what to do moving forward when working, and that means a lot to me.

i am thankful & grateful for all that i have learned, the people that i met & the invaluable experience i was a part of. we made so many great records, together🤍 i will always remember that. by @kaelahsabree
