I held my first art show @quarterohc back in June on solstice weekend, the night of the strawberry super moon 🍓🌝 The exhibition was called “The Red Road” and depicted my relationship to the 7 Sacred Virtues of the Lakota Sioux: 1. Wóčhekiya - Prayer 2. Wičákha - Honesty 3. Wahwala - Humility 4. Waúnšila - Compassion 5. Waóhola - Respect 6. Wawokiye - Generosity 7. Wóksape - Wisdom These values remain at my core and guide my path. They remind me of how to treat myself and others and help me create a life of harmony and balance. The pieces were made with: repurposed fabric from @williamfrederick.wf adhered to layers of filtered wax enclosed in solid walnut frames by @my.willingness Thank you to everyone who took one home. I am so looking forward to spending my free time this fall/winter making new pieces. captured by @sageeve #fineart #art #exhibition #gallery #artist #fabric #wax by @kahrinart
“when i turned 27 everything started to change” this lyric by kacey musgraves couldn’t be more true for my life right now. since this show, i have felt an opening in my soul thank you to everyone who came to support me and experience my art. if you or someone you know would enjoy a custom piece, i am now accepting commissions for the fall/winter 🤍 captured by @sageeve #fineart #exhibition #concert #multimedia #mixedmedia #art #artist #musician #singersongwriter by @kahrinart
Celebrating my 27th trip around the sun with my first ever art show, “The Red Road” the weekend of the summer Solstice with a Full Strawberry Moon rising in the sky… how could I ever find the words to describe this? It felt like pure magic. This piece behind me is beyond sacred to me. Entirely constructed from recycled fabric, this sculpture represents my abstract vision of the Native American philosophy and ceremonial healing tool… The Medicine Wheel. The Red Road (the harmonious way) flows North to South and The Black Road (the war torn way) shoots East to West. The Medicine Wheel and all it represents has been the centerline of my life for years - especially the interpretation of The Red Road and the 7 Sacred Virtues by medicine man, Black Elk of the Lakota Sioux. Doing this art show, opening my heart and sharing my connection to these indigenous spiritual teachings was a big step along my own path. And I am humbled and grateful to everyone who came and received my creation with open minds and open hearts. outfit by @auburn_studio_ photo by @my.willingness by @kahrinart
