👉🏽Australia is a country of opportunities and I’m living proof of that.🇦🇺Fifteen years ago, I was drafting a federal law in Mexico. And today, I have been appointed to the subcommittee helping shape a new State law in Western Australia, the Multicultural Act. The Multicultural Act has the potential to build a more inclusive, fair and welcoming WA. We need to share our views to help ensure a developed Multicultural Act reflects the needs of Western Australians. You can provide your discussion paper responses online via a survey available on the OMI website: https://lnkd.in/grtXWwMw 💬 Consultation is open until Sunday 15 February 2026. 🌐 Access the discussion paper and response survey: https://lnkd.in/gb98ppNq #MulticulturalWA #weareallAustralians #strongeraustralia by @karlabenitezcommunity
📍Hate, division and racism will never build stronger nations. Real progress comes from dignity, equitable and fair opportunities for all. Leadership should empower people, not divide them. Humanity must always come before politics. ❤️‍🔥The US elections send a powerful reminder to Australia: the values we stand for and the leadership we choose shape the future of our nation. #diversityequityinclusion #nosabokids #representation #StrongerAustralia by @karlabenitezcommunity
True wealth isn’t measured by money, but by genuine friendships, the love we share, and the people who stand by us. 🐰❤️‍🔥HBD @fio_kule and @rociocampbell07 🎂🥳 by @karlabenitezcommunity
The Multicultural Workers Collective took its advocacy for Western Australia’s migrant workers to Canberra for the FECCA National Conference. Our director, Karla Benitez, presented on the union movement’s work engaging with CaLD communities, and on the opportunities to build equal, inclusive and representative organisations. It was a powerful chance to advocate for migrant workers from Western Australia at the national level. We heard from other advocates and organisations, built valuable relationships, and we look forward to continuing our advocacy across the country. And yes, our signs stole the spotlight: Justice for all workers. ✊ Find out more about our work here: https://www.mwcwa.com.au/ #FECCAConference2026 #MulticulturalWorkersCollective #FairWorkForAll #MigrantWorkersWA #FairPaySafeWorkForAll #WorkersRights #SocialCohesion #MulticulturalCommunities by @karlabenitezcommunity
✨ We belong! Pathways to Politics for Women has been one of the most empowering experiences of my professional journey. A powerful reminder that we belong, that our voices can’t give up, and that we have a strong, authentic network of women supporting each other to pursue our collective dreams in community and leadership. Beyond the program, it’s a sisterhood and a network for life. 💜 Grateful for this incredible opportunity and the inspiring women I’ve met along the way. @universitywa #PathwaysToPolitics #WomenInLeadership #Leadership #womenempowerment by @karlabenitezcommunity
Deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific attack on Helen Haines MP. Political violence has no place in our democracy and our country. We must stand together against hatred, intimidation and violence. My thoughts and solidarity are with her. by @karlabenitezcommunity
When the community, private, and nonprofit sectors work together, Australia wins! A big thank you to the Diversity and Innovation Techfest (DITF2025) for the fantastic platform to discuss how Australian entrepreneurs can turn challenges into transformative opportunities for all. by @karlabenitezcommunity
It’s official! 🎉 Our MWC Director, Karla Benitez, will be speaking at the FECCA Conference 2026! Karla will highlight the work of the union movement in engaging with CALD communities, and the opportunities to build stronger, more equal, inclusive and representative organisations. A great opportunity to bring migrant workers’ voices and experiences into the national conversation. See you at FECCA! #MigrantWorkers #FairWorkplaces #WorkplaceRights #MulticulturalWorkersCollective #UnionsWA #WorkplaceCompliance #WorkersRights by @karlabenitezcommunity
“I strongly believe that our ethnicity and gender do not define our destiny and success”💪🏾💪🏿💪🚺 Thank you to the Kenyan Community in Western Australia - KCWA for the invitation to their Women Empowerment Gala. It was a real honour to give a motivational speech about women empowerment and team work. Despite the gender equality progress, women and girls continue to face discrimination and violence all around the world, every second, every hour, every day. Every minute, 2 girls and women are sexually abused in South Africa. Every day, 3 women are killed by their male partners in the United States. In Australia, we take home an average of $251 dollars less than men each week We are under-represented in political and economic decision-making processes. We need to work as a team, we won’t be able to change this if we don’t work together. #genderequality #weareallaustralians #GenderEqualityMatters #StrongerTogether #StrongerEconomy #unity #fairness by @karlabenitezcommunity
Premier @mark_mcgowan_mp MP your leadership, and determination for making Western Australia the strongest State in our country has created a legacy for future generations. Thank you for your 30 years of dedicated service to Western Australia. The CaLD communities in WA won’t forget your support to the #MulticulturalLaborOrganisation and I look foward to @rogercookmla leadership, especially his commitment to fostering diversity and promoting inclusion across all sectors and levels, which will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of our economy. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=636256364869967&id=1308069249&mibextid=v7YzmGyou by @karlabenitezcommunity
Full house. Real solidarity. Powerful voices. The Multicultural Workers Collective in collaboration with @wayounglabor came together for another meaningful evening of learning, connection, and action. Migrant workers, union affiliates, and young voices packed the room and the energy was incredible. Our own Rikki Hendon, Secretary of UnionsWA, led an outstanding information session on migrant workers rights, joined by TWU Secretary Tim Dawson and our union officials on the panel from United Workers Union @unitedworkersoz, AMWU Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union, WA AWU - Australian Workers' Union @awu_wa_ and Transport Workers Union WA Branch - TWU WA @twu_wa who shared their experience working alongside migrant workers. Real knowledge, real voices, real power. When migrant workers are protected, workplaces are safer and fairer for everyone. Learn more about our collective: www.unionswa.com.au/mwc ✊We are actively looking for partners who share our commitment to fair, safe, and inclusive workplaces for every worker in WA. #MulticulturalWorkersCollective #MigrantWorkersWA #FairWorkForAll #WorkersRights #UnionsWA #SocialCohesion by @karlabenitezcommunity
⚖️Yes, 90% of Australian organisations have diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. But the numbers tell a different story when we look at the real impact: 👉🏽Only 3% of executive board members are from non-European backgrounds. 👉44% of migrant Australians are working below their skill level, costing the economy $70 billion each year in lost productivity. We can have a room full of talented professionals from diverse backgrounds – different colours, accents and experiences. But if we’re not included in decision-making at all levels, diversity becomes nothing more than lip service. I acknowledge the success of our past in creating our diverse and international society. But we, must also take responsibility for what we need to improve. 🌏Thank you to the Asian Australian Lawyers Association for the invitation to join their upcoming national forum as the WA panelist on Defending Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI).
