I worked closely with the most amazing Bob for over five years. He saw my value - and he told me that he did. He created career opportunities for me that counted. I’ll never forget the value of the right mentorship and sponsorship relationships at work. But I’m sure at some point in your corporate career journey, you worked with someone who questioned your contributions. In the entrepreneurship game, it’s easy to let every challenge or setback open a new round of questioning your own worth. Your value. Your impact. When those doubts creep in, I dare you to flex. Flex on your fears! Your flex begins with your faith. Faith gives you the confidence to show up at work knowing your worth. Faith gives you the capital to keep funding your dreams and building your business. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Faith is a flex. Follow me @karlajaghedo for more on how to flex on them at work, in business, and in life - with love. 😘 #flex #flexonem #faith #faithistheflex #faithisthesubstance #faithistheconfidence #knowyourworth #knowyourvalue #faithoverfear #wellnessjourney #wellnessforwomen #professionalwomen #womenlawyers #blacklawyers #career #careerdevelopment #careergrowth #blackgirlmagic #bossmoves #powermoves by @karlajaghedo
Can I let you in on a secret? * * * * * * * Your job knows that you’re worth more. 💰 More than they pay you. 💰 More than the opportunities they give you. 💰 More than the tables they invite you to. 💰 More than the doors they let you peak through. 💰 More than the time you give to build their world. You should know it, too. As a high-achieving woman in a high-stakes, high-stress, high-responsibility career, you’ve probably spent years proving yourself. Showing them you deserve to be there. But sis, your work speaks for itself. Your brilliance is blinding. Don’t let anyone try to dim or shade that light flowing from you. So it might be time to start moving differently. It’s time to #flexonem… #flex #worthit #shesback #thesecrettosuccess #thesecrettohappiness #thesecret #successredefined #sucessmindset #successstrategies #successtips #wellnessjourney #mindset #perspective #wellnessforwomen #lawyerlife #womenlawyers #womenattorneys #womanlawyer #womanattorney #executivecoach #executivecoaching #careerconfidence by @karlajaghedo
What did you say? New Year. New Conversation. 🎆 As a successful career woman, I’m sure you’ve mastered what to say (and what not to say) at work. To whom. In what context. 👀 But do you exercise that same discipline in what you say to yourself? How you talk (to yourself) about what’s going on at work can shift your entire energy. Yes, you’re probably overworked, overwhelmed, and still overlooked. That’s a reality for so many professional Black women. (And I work with women to change that!) But to shift into your purpose, positioned for that promotion, and powerful in every room you enter, you’ve got to shift what you say TO YOURSELF. Here’s a start: “Everything happening at work right now is ultimately intended for my good.” #whatyousay #whatyousaymatters #speaktoyourself #talktoyourself #selftalk #selftalkmatters #selfcareformoms #tipsforbusymoms #mentalhealth #selfcaretipsforbusymoms #busymoms #morningroutine #highfeminineenergy #improvewellbeing #selfcareforworkingmoms #bestofbothworlds #wellnessjourney #meditate #balanceyourlifeasaworkingmom #womenempowerment #wellnessgoals #growthmindset #settinghealthyboundaries #reduceanxiety #positiveaffirmations #workingmoms #corporatemom #corporatewoman #blackgirlmagic #mindfulness by @karlajaghedo

The Houston Texas Book Club was honored to attend the virtual Restore Her Spirit Wellness Summit this week, hosted by one of our own book club members, author and attorney Karla Aghedo, along with her amazing co-host, Dr. Kimberly Hardy.🌸 Throughout the week, Karla brought together an inspiring lineup of powerful speakers who shared wisdom, encouragement, and practical tools for personal and professional growth. We were especially proud to see one of the Houston Texas Book Club authors, Rochelle D. Jacobs, featured among the speakers.🌸 The summit also included an incredible in-person event featuring an outstanding panel of women making a significant impact in law and throughout our community. Special recognition goes to Amanda Edwards, Whitney Moore, and Gloria Glover for their powerful presence and contributions.🌸 What an unforgettable evening of networking, learning, inspiration, and empowerment. We left feeling enlightened, educated, encouraged, and renewed.🌸 Our souls have truly been restored!💎 #HoustonTexasBookClub #RestoreHerSpirit #WomenEmpoweringWomen #CommunityImpact #Wellness by @karlajaghedo

The Houston Texas Book Club believes in supporting Black-owned businesses. We understand how important and critical it is to support our communities, and how doing so can make a difference for generations to come.✨ A special thank you to Aesha Sabreen Egbuna of Kulture Rich Events for hosting Saturday’s “Fill Her Cup” A Mother’s Day Soirée! The event showcased many amazing vendors and businesses, and the Houston Texas Book Club thoroughly enjoyed the shopping, inspiring speakers, and entertainment!✨ We were especially proud of one of our very own book club member, Karla Aghedo, who served as a speaker and truly filled our cups with wisdom and inspiration.✨ The day was filled with food, fun, and laughter — a beautiful celebration and a day to remember in The Houston Texas Book Club Sisterhood!💜 Join our Sisterhood👉🏽 https://www.houstontexasbookclub.com/ by @karlajaghedo
