Meet the women building Moody 💜

Every line of code, every predictive model, every piece of research behind Moody comes from an all-female team. We’re proud of that, because the people building women’s health tech should understand women’s health from the inside.

Swipe to meet the team:

📊 Ciara, Co-founder & CDAO, with 20+ years in machine learning, building every predictive model we run

💻 Ingrid, CTO and our first employee, built the whole platform (and was usually the only woman on her old engineering teams)

👩‍💻 Amy, Co-founder & CEO, on a mission to help you understand how your hormones and mental health connect

💬 Millie, Partner & CCO, building a community where we talk about hormones openly

🔬 Lola, Co-Founder, Researcher & Nutritionist, with 15+ years in the NHS and private practice, making female health research accessible

🚀 Karla, Co-founder & Growth Advisor, opening doors for Moody in the US and shaping where growth and community meet

🔒 Anaïs, Product Director, taking us from pre-revenue to scaling while keeping your data safe

Built by women. Backed by science. Made for you.

Full episode out now on Spotify & Apple / link in bio

“Systems That Weren’t Designed For Us” is a four-part conversation series at the @museuminspiteofeverything. @taraaverill of Legacy of Loud was lucky enough to moderate EVENT ONE where we started naming the systems.

Women move through work, healthcare, motherhood, and partnership systems that were never built around their lives, bodies, or realities, and are still expected to perform inside them as if they were.

Recorded live at the Museum in Spite of Everything in Brooklyn founded by @juliaaaguliaaa this first conversation brings together five women — including a New York agency CEO @seralondon , a psychiatrist specializing in women’s mental health @drchristindrake , a chief creative officer @juliaaaguliaaa , two creative talent agents @karlanewyork @taraaverill and the founder of Not Safe For Mom Group @notsafeformomgroup @alexisbaradcutler — to do exactly that. Over the course of the night we moved from the gaps in women’s health research and the realities of hormones and perimenopause, to the unspoken costs of leadership, divorce and the systems around it, dating and beauty standards, maternity leave, mental health, and what it means to model different choices for the next generation. by @karlanewyork

@karlanewyork speaking on work systems designed for male physiologist at EVENT 1 of IN SPITE OF EVERYTHING: the brainchild of @juliaaaguliaaa and @karlanewyork hosted by @museuminspiteofeverything and @legacyofloud .

More Karla:

“If we get deep into the differences in the conversation about man / female performance - women are seen as a problem to be solved, and men are to be optimized. Our mental health, our pregnancies — they’re monetized. So us not understanding ourselves is very profitable.” — Karla

“Women’s bodies run on a monthly cycle. But the working system was built around men who run on a 24 hour streak — they have testosterone spikes in the morning and the afternoon, the same, every day. That’s how the workday was designed.”

Karla Stewart 🎯

Karla talked about the way work was never built for women, but the economy can’t thrive unless we do. Our health was never the weakness — it’s the power source. It’s time we redesigned the system around it.

Tara Averill brought her usual levity and candor and kept a heavy conversation honest, human, and easy to be in.

Sarah Collinson — the workday was built for a world where men worked and women stayed home. We’re still measured by the hours we log, not the impact we make. It’s time work was valued by output, not time served.

Dr. Christin Drake — medicine already knows how to treat most of what women need. It just… doesn’t. The information was never missing — the will to deliver it is. And remember: you are the client.

Alexis Barad-Cutler — women are told to look effortless, and never to admit the effort. We all grew up in the same soil, and the soil is poisoned. Saying that out loud is how we start to grow something new.

Julia Neumann — every system a new mother meets — medical, legal, the paperwork after — was built for a life that isn’t hers. None of them stop to ask what she actually needs. They should.

This was the first of four conversations in Systems That Weren’t Designed For Us. Naming is the prerequisite to changing.

Stay tuned for forthcoming details on events 2, 3 and 4 of this series.

Julia Neumann on why she started the @museuminspiteofeverything 🎯

We didn’t come to fix. We came to name. 🎥

Julia Neumann (@juliaaaguliaaa @museuminspiteofeverything ) ) recent had a baby and was met with every system a new mother meets when she had her baby prematurely 6mo ago - medical, legal, the paperwork - all systems built for someone else in mind. No one seems to be able to turn on their minds in these systems.

@juliaaaguliaaa (who created and launched this museum last year) and I are teaming up with @taraaverill to cohost a conversation about how we are thriving in systems not designed for us. We’re not interested in complaining. We’re interested in identifying, understanding and redesigning.

Workplaces are designed around men’s hormones, bodies and schedules.

Motherhood were narratives written before women could open a bank account in their own name. Health research only ran trials on men until recently and called the results universal. Women’s pain is disproportionately ignored and pushed aside.

In Spite of Everything is a four-part series about how we can pay attention and adjust.

What are the systems we inherited and what should new ones look like?

This isn’t anyways fault - these systems were designed for a world very different than today - we’d love for men to be part of this conversation.

Workplaces. Motherhood. Health. Power. Wealth.

Come join us for the conversation!

Embodied leadership 5.5 ✨

Covid disembodied us, AI is integrated into our work and lives. There has never been a better time to explore what being human really means.

Our bodies and making decisions from them is our advantage and our edge.

Listening to them is a skill to constantly work on and there is no better group of women to teach us @kristinsudeikisdance @aliblackbird @dr.robinrose

Also - disposable cameras for the win.

Thank you to everyone who came 🙏🏻 by @karlanewyork

Some systems fail women loudly.
Most fail them quietly.

In the expectations we normalize.
The exhaustion we glamorize.
The ways women learn to shrink, stretch, optimize, and absorb just to keep everything moving.

This conversation is a first of 4 about that.
