We're excited to share that our Maple Hill project has a print feature in this season's @ruemagazine ! Shot by the amazing @abigailjacksonphoto and built by @thompsondesignbuild , this home was such a dream to design. Grateful to all the amazing trades that made it happen and to @kellilamb_ for the feature.

Grab yourself a copy at Barnes & Noble, Target, etc. - or read online on Rue's website.

It was a goal of mine in 2025 to land a national magazine feature - and it felt lofty - but we made it happen. Celebrating today and taking time to appreciate how far we've come. 🥳 by @kaseysmithinteriors

If you’re new here, welcome to my little corner of the internet! Around here we talk design philosophy, my love affair with natural materials and living finishes, whatever is currently inspiring me, and all the life that happens somewhere in between. Design, travel, motherhood, the ocean, something vintage I couldn’t leave behind - you get the idea.

Here’s a little glimpse into Kasey Smith Interiors - who we are, what we do, and why we do it ↓

We are a full-service luxury interior design studio specializing in new construction and large-scale renovations in Wilmington, NC and beyond. Our work is rooted in an appreciation for beautiful materials, enduring craftsmanship, storied pieces, and spaces designed around functionality and life. To us, true luxury is found in the balance of it all. From the earliest architectural plans to the final layer of styling, we guide the entire design process. Architectural collaboration, space planning, material and finish selections, custom detailing, lighting, furnishings, window treatments, art, procurement, build-team communication, installation - we consider it all as part of one complete vision.

I believe deeply in the effect our surroundings have on our wellbeing. So yes, I want your home to be really, really beautiful, but I also want it to make everyday life easier, inspire you, give you somewhere to exhale, and feel even better with time. If this sounds like your kind of home, I think you’ll like it here. Stick around. by @kaseysmithinteriors

Take a tour of our Maple Hill project! This new build on a 120+ acre tree farm just outside of Wilmington is warm, inviting, and laid back yet sophisticated. We loved every minute of working on this one!

It’s you - you’re the someone. by @kaseysmithinteriors

A few days in the pines. Old things, good architecture, crisp fall air, and a little time off the clock celebrating nine years of marriage. A golf trip, loosely interpreted.

There’s something about towns like this that always leaves me feeling refreshed and inspired to create spaces with a little history and a lot of staying power. by @kaseysmithinteriors

If you missed part one, go catch up - because we’re continuing our conversation on all things unlacquered brass (clearly one of my favorite topics, if you haven’t caught on by now).

One of the things I love most about this living finish is its versatility. If you prefer your hardware to look shiny and new, polish it. If you prefer an aged finished, don’t.

But what makes this finish even cooler is that you can actually take the aging process into your own hands through manual patination, creating a finish that feels naturally beautifully aged. We used this technique on the hardware of an antique study door, and the result was exactly what we were hoping for - that rich, timeworn character that feels as though it has been there for decades.

It’s little details like these that give a space its soul, and why I’ll probably never stop talking about unlacquered brass. by @kaseysmithinteriors

This is the part that never gets old. 🤍

Our client came to us wanting a home that felt peaceful, personal, and beautiful - a place where she could walk through the door at the end of the day and immediately exhale. We spent months thoughtfully bringing that vision to life during this renovation, but nothing compares to watching her walk in and experience it for the first time.

This reaction says it all. And yes, she’s officially the friend with the cool house. by @kaseysmithinteriors

A few weeks of demo and Station One is already looking cooler. Exposed concrete ready to be surrounded by warm, new materials, dimensions locked in, and only a few small pivots after demo (a rare win!). What looks like ductwork and framing to you looks like dreams coming to life to me.

Follow along as this place transforms into a sophisticated, walnut-drenched, edgy home that perfectly reflects the homeowners’ laid-back, fun lifestyle 🔨 by @kaseysmithinteriors

Project Radian Bay is coming together, and I’m so excited about this one!

An equestrian-inspired home with quiet nods to the coast. Here’s a little photo dump from the past few months as we start bringing the formal dining room and sunroom to life.

The clients’ love for her horses and her garden is woven throughout this design. Rich oak millwork, earthy greens, soft blues and warm creams set the tone. Botanical tapestries, blue-and-white florals and a mix of antique and contemporary pieces bring in that English charm we all love. Collected, layered, and nothing too perfect or precious.

This isn’t a full-scale renovation. Just a few architectural updates and a major furniture refresh. It’s a good reminder that you don’t always have to start from scratch to completely change how a home looks and feels. by @kaseysmithinteriors

A few days in New York, mostly in the name of “design research.”

We wandered through showrooms, studied beautiful things, ate very well, and came home with approximately 100 new ideas. There’s something about stepping outside of your normal routine and seeing how other people are making, designing, and putting things together that always shifts my perspective a little.

Feeling very inspired, very grateful, and already figuring out how to work a few of these ideas into what we’re creating back home. NYC, you were good to us. 🤎 by @kaseysmithinteriors

This space was designed around my obsession for this quartzite slab @sellerstileandcounters . I initially thought we’d head in a lighter, brighter direction, but the second I saw this leathered beauty of a slab, I knew my client needed to bring it home! Dark stone, warm wood, unlacquered brass, and a chocolate shower tile so delicious you can basically taste it. Rich and warm, the kind of space that lives and ages well. My only regret is not using this slab in my own home 🤭 by @kaseysmithinteriors

A few days at High Point doing what we do best - hunting down the good stuff.

Vintage treasures, interesting silhouettes, beautiful materials, and a whole lot of sit testing. We’re always looking for pieces with a little personality, thoughtful craftsmanship, and something you won’t find in every other living room.

Some things you just have to see (and sit in) for yourself. We’ve always had a thing for the slightly unexpected. But it better be comfortable, too. by @kaseysmithinteriors
