Today’s treat, a sticky chai cake. Can you eat sweets and still be healthy and not blow up? The answer is dependent on your lifestyle. Are you eating a variety of fruit, veg, legumes protein rich foods, and whole-grains 80% of the time? Are you moving your body regularly? If so, yes eating your favourite treat in moderation will not cause you to be unhealthy and unlikely to cause weight gain. I actually prefer to eat some sort of treat every day (note I am strategic and try to incorporate ‘healthier’ or lower refined sugar treats most of the time but I don’t back down on full fat cake when I really want it). *What about if you can’t stop at one slice or 2 biscuits? My tip is to pre-portion what you want to eat in advance so you don’t mindlessly eat the whole thing. Try to eat it mindfully, slowly noticing the sweet, creamy taste and texture in your mouth. *Drink water afterwards and if you still want more, wait 20 minutes and ask yourself if you are truely still feeling hungry or is just an urge? If it is an urge, ask yourself what it is that you actually need right now and go meet that need. I.e. if you’re stressed, what is something you can do to help you feel more relaxed? If you’re still actually hungry, you could either have a little bit more of the sweet treat or perhaps ask yourself, how could you best nourish yourself? What food would make you feel good and healthy after eating it? Go eat that. *There was a time in my life when I struggled to stop at one slice, and to eat sweets in moderation. I recovered from that issue many years ago and so this is something close to my heart. I share my tips on food in hope that it will help someone out there ☺️. #sweets #nutrition #healthyeating #bingeeatingrecovery #mindset by @kat_christinee
How do you make the most of every moment? This is something I’m working on. To me, making the most of every moment is being present. This got me thinking.. Not only is being present dictated by the ability to stay off your phone😅 but the capacity to be here and now with your body and emotions. It’s easier to be present during the fun times than it is during a moment of boredom or anxiety when it is more tempting to wish the day was done already or numb out with scrolling. Mindset also affects how present you are. Buying into negative thoughts can dirty the lense which you see things through and you may miss the beauty in the every day moments, or you may decline or miss opportunities because you’re not in the mood. Finally it’s important to make time to be present. Put away the phone if just for 30 minutes. Immerse yourself in nature or an enjoyable activity for you. Consciously engage your 5 senses. Presence is a muscle, and with practice during both good and hard moments, capacity for being present can grow 🌱. #presence #paychology #mindfulness #thoughts by @kat_christinee
It’s only been a day away from the hustle and bustle of Melb, and Byron has taught me to ground more in the present moment. #beach #byronbay #relax #wellbeing #calm by @kat_christinee
Don’t be deceived by pictures of fit, toned bodies on social media and let it make you feel less than. They don’t look like that all the time. Swipe to see my next photo which is less flattering Your body is so precious, despite aesthetics. If you don’t like how you look, try thinking of 2-3 things you are grateful for what your body does for you. Eg. It allows you to walk, see, taste, etc. For me, I’m grateful my body can move, that I was able to go to the gym today, and that I can smile today ❤️. #grateful #gym #fitness #bodypositivitymovement #selflove #love #edrecovery #healthy #inspiration #motivation #mum #mumsofinstagram #melbourne #personaltrainer #dance #ed #bingeeatingrecovery #bingeeatinghelp by @kat_christinee
Feeling unfit or like you’ve put on a few kg during the colder months? I get it. I did the same too 😅. My biggest tip for you is consistency. Sounds boring compared to all the exciting fad diets out there but it works. In the words of Arnold.. Just dooo it!!! Go to the fitness class you’ve been putting off. Walk to work. Take the stairs. Hit the gym. Take the kids in the pram for a walk. Try some push ups or squats in front of your TV. It all counts. Something is better than nothing and when you do it consistently over time you feel better, fitter and you get better results. Here is me in the gym today after not going for eight days due to the school holidays . However, I managed to get some home workouts in and do some walking in between 😁. #fitness #motivation #inspiration #fyp #fitfam #fitmum #mum #personaltrainer #gym #workout #instafit #foryoupage #fitmums #healthy #winter #melbourne by @kat_christinee
Was blessed to spend time with @aidan.rankinn in Sydney this weekend which was a treat after 10 days of influenza. We saw &Juliet musical, which brought back the nostalgia of 90s and 00s tunes woven into a clever, entertaining script and performance. Think Britney, Ariana, Katie Perry, Kelly Clarkson and Backstreet Boys. Another highlight was a delicious pasta ragu dinner in a quaint, European restaurant, as well as a trip to the serene Chinese Garden of Friendship. #musical #sydney #fun #theatre #besties #friends #instagood #cute #instafun #fyp #foryou by @kat_christinee

Making your day even 1% better requires change. You need to identify that areas of your life you are least happy with and commit to 1 or 2 small steps towards making it better. For me, I was feeling I needed more joy in my life. I didn’t want it to be dependant on others. So one of my steps is to do a happy dance in the morning no matter how I wake up feeling 😊. by @kat_christinee
You weren’t taught at school how to have a relationship with the most important person: yourself. Some ways to do this is to be compassionate to yourself, check in through the day and ask yourself what you need, be mindful of your self-talk, be your own cheerleader, and bring acceptance to you no matter where you are in life. This is Part of the Free Self love Challenge series. I’ve loved doing this series so much I’m making this into a book to help you glow up from the inside and boost your self worth. Self love Challenge Day 4. Stop focusing on the external to define your worth and happiness. Let’s be real.. it’s impossible to never let your external circumstances such as a break up or the loss of a job affect your emotional state. It’s human.. and it’s ok to feel those emotions. However if you have a stronger foundation of self-worth and inner joy, the external circumstances will not throw you as badly. #selfworth #relationships #divorce #inspiration #hardtimes #motivation #happiness #breakup #selflove #mindbody #motivation #fitfam #mum #mumcoach #psychology #selfhelp #help #viral #peace #innerpeace #wisdom #love #selfconcept #selfcare #challenge by @kat_christinee
