POSTS STORIES REELS

I’m currently working on a small collection of paintings focussing on birds, stories and landscape. This is my favourite so far “The Good Omen” by @kateboyceart

Not a top nine but more a random selection of memories from the year.

It’s been a roller coaster of a year culminating in the last two weeks not going quite to plan with my lovely Mum in hospital over Christmas.

Regards my artwork, In all honesty, no matter how things may seem, it’s been a tough one (as for many small businesses). Sales have been much thinner than previous years. Understandable in the current climate, no one has so much disposable income, but a bitter pill none the less. I think it’s important to share the reality here as some of you are fellow artists experiencing similar. For one reason and another I haven’t created as much original work as last year and that could be part of it but print sales especially have been down - changes in trends perhaps?

I’ve had some distractions though, moving house & getting married being the biggest. Having had to downsize to a tiny back to back house some years ago we’ve now moved somewhere with more space, inside and out & less treacherous stairs! It’s a bit of a renovation job but we’re getting there, with a lot of help. I’m so grateful that I was able to work around health issues to make the much needed move.

In other news we sadly lost our two dear old cats. Not being able to bare a catless house, we now have two gorgeous rescue tortoiseshell sisters ‘Jean’ & ‘Mabel’.

I wish you all more peace, joy, good health and love in the year ahead and I send well wishes to all my fellow artists and makers.

I’m looking forward to being back painting in my studio in the very near future and exploring new ideas. That’s what it’s all about after all - food for the soul!

Limestone Blue Hour 3 & 4 - Original Mixed Media Paintings On cradled wood panel 25cm square painting in a 32cm sqare, Lime washed wood frame.

On display @wsg.uk for their winter exhibition “Earth, Safe As Houses” (please contact them directly to purchase). Exhibition begins tomorrow November 2nd

These paintings explore the relationship between the limestone landscape and the plants that make their home within it. Finding shelter in tiny crevices and pockets of soil, these plants have adapted to thrive in seemingly inhospitable places. Their resilience is remarkable, but also a reminder of how fragile these finely balanced ecosystems are. by @kateboyceart
