I'm happy to be in this show! The Stairwell Space is excited to present Up The Down Staircase, a group exhibition featuring 17 artists, curated by Karin Bravin of BravinLee Programs. Some installation photos. Thanks to Karin Bravin and Linda Colletta.

Set within our historic spiral staircase, the exhibition explores stairways, ladders, stoops, step stools, and fire escapes as places of movement, transition, domestic life, and escape.

As visitors move through the exhibition, the staircase itself becomes part of the experience. What is ordinarily a passageway becomes a destination.

Opening Saturday, November 7, in conjunction with Bridgeport Art Trail weekend and AmFab Open Studios. Come explore the exhibition and visit the artists working throughout the building!

Participating Artists:

Scenes from my residency at Sidle House, Bartol Island Road, Freeport ME. Tomorrow, Saturday August 22nd, at 3pm there'll be an informal talk and exhibition/open studio. Thanks to Maddy and the Vertenten family - it's been such a pleasure! #drawing; #architecture; #art in Maine by @katetealestudio

I'm very happy to be Sidle House's first artist-in-residence - here for 10 days. It's a big plus that I and my cousins used to play in this barn when my grandparents owned the farm. Thanks to Maddy Vertenten for the wonderful work she's doing here. If you're in the area or passing through, I'm giving an open studio/informal show and talk on Saturday 22 at 3pm. https://sidlehouse.com by @katetealestudio

| Brooklyn Townhouse by Allegra Eifler

Specially designed for a Brooklyn-based creative couple, this pre-war townhouse spotlights a diverse art collection while also serving the needs of an active family.

In the second living room, pictured, the original marble fireplace and preserved tin ceiling capture that classic New York charm. To the left of the mantle hangs a painting of the owner’s ancestor— an American Revolutionary War General. A self-portrait by the artist Kate Teale is mirrored on the opposite side.

On the antique American tilt-top table, family photos and art books are arranged next to a lamp created by Humble Matter— perfectly melding functionality and fine arts.
